If you'd like to talk about Walter Pardon, please start a music thread and talk about him there. But talk about Walter Pardon, and not about people being offended because they think they're not allowed to talk about Walter Pardon. Don't put the music stuff in this thread, because it's likely to be closed or deleted very, very soon.
Note, however, that there was a lengthy thread about Walter Pardon just this last November, and it may not be time for another one quite yet. That thread was closed because it was taken over by people getting offended about bananas or something equally ridiculous. I'll reopen the thread and allow the discussion to continue, but I'll shut it down if the combat resumes.

About a decade ago, there were considerably more folk programmes on BBC4 than now, and that's how I know of Walter Pardon - one of England's best traditional singers.

OK, boys and girls.

Someone made the grossly erroneous comment that they were not allowed to discuss Walter Pardon.

Please allow them the opportunity to discuss Walter to their hearts content.

No problem with the topic, the problem was people (well, one in particular) using him as a pretext for airing decades-old mouldering grudges. The pretext could equally well have been mandolin strings, train fares or shaving soap.

He came from Knapton in Norfolk didn't he? Could you explain about the controversy? I don't know much about the man, although we're only twenty or so miles from Knapton.

There has been a little controversy about whether discussion about this man is permissible.

Despite claims to the contrary it is not.

So discuss to your hearts content.
