Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Boat of Silver, a la Bok From: Naemanson Date: 23 Oct 00 - 11:30 AM This weekend, in a workshop at the first Maine Music Heritage Festival, Gordon commented that he believes that this music should be shared. He believes the music belongs to the people but the royalties belong to the artist. In other words, if you sing it among friends it is yours. If you record it or make money from it part of that belongs to the artist. The reason I bring this up is that someone else at the same festival commented that he had once asked Gordan for the words to one of his songs and got the words, chords, tabulature, and a few notes on the tuning and performance. Gordon truly believes in sharing. I'm sure he would change his mind if he were overwhelmed with requests so I would make him my source of last resort. If you cannot find it anywhere else, go to him. A word of caution. He also commented that he is very disorganized and you may find that there is a significant time lag between your request and his response. He is, after all, a very busy person. This is another reason to make him your source of last resort. |

Subject: ADD: Boat of Silver (Goodenough) ^^ From: Melani Date: 24 Jul 00 - 02:21 PM Praise--here's the other one. Boat of Silver by Judy Goodenough There's many ships tarry in the harbor, Many roads wind across the hill; And many roses grow on the arbor, Many's the girl waits for me there still. Cho: (originally second verse) For swiftly come all the tides returning; Swiftly go then and will not stay. There is no boatman can net the morning; There is no boatman can net the day. The fish run deep, oh, they run so deeply I cannot find them in the seas. The lonely road winds the hill so steeply, I'll lie me down now and take my ease. The rose that blooms blows its petals over And the thorns lie upon the bough. The girls have gone now to another harbor; They will not linger beside me now. I will build me a boat of silver, Steer it with a golden oar, And I will row out of this sad harbor And never sail back to this dark shore. © 1980, J.B. Goodenough You should probably just break down and get another copy of "Schooners". I can't see how you could do without it anyway, having once heard it. ^^ |
Subject: Boat of Silver, a la Bok From: wysiwyg Date: 24 Jul 00 - 01:31 PM I have done the looking I know how to do, here at the Cat and out There. This is on the album, Schooners. Lyrics would be a start. (My tape is all muddy where Coca Cola got dumped on it.) Chords matching the tape would be MOST appreciated! ~S~ |
