Keep a stiff upper lip !!! **little joke** We're in your corner -- and I do hope it's not contagious! **another one--even smaller** And keep the positives in mind -- it could've been balls palsy ! **even smaller if that's possible** (What a difference an "a" makes.) Really, If I can be of help, just yell. And that's no joke !!! All the best---and real soon, Art |

Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Mark Clark Date: 03 Oct 00 - 09:36 PM Kendall, I'm sure sorry to hear the news. A teenaged girl in my Sunday school class had that last spring and has now fully recovered. I can do for you what we all did for her... seems to help. - Mark |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Oct 00 - 09:35 PM Well I don't care to get this Bell stuff, but I SURE want to attend the feast!!!! Specifically, I'm interested in the salmonella free loose big breasted women.....Y'all can enjoy the rest at your leisure. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Little Neophyte Date: 03 Oct 00 - 09:23 PM Dear Sir Kendallot A brave knight like you having to slay more dragons. Oy, will your battles ever cease? Of course they will. From what I understand, battles do come in threes, so look on the bright side, in no time flat this Bell's Palsey thing will be gone and you'll have won your three battle job! Afterwards I hear there is a big feast with all the other brave knights at the long table. You get to gorge on salmonella free chicken soups, salmonella free roasted boar, barrels of wine and salmonella free loose women with engorged breast bulging out of the top of low cut dresses and whatever else they tend to serve brave knights after their 3 battles have been won. Why I'd say that is something to look forward to. Bonnie Maiden who isn't loose, but is engorged but doesn't bulge |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: WyoWoman Date: 03 Oct 00 - 09:12 PM Hi, Kendall, I had a friend who had this a couple of years ago. He was utterly bummed out about it and from what the doctor said he thought it might be months of droopiness and slurring -- which really was a bummer because we were working on a musical revue at the time and he was hoping to make his debut. Finally gave up on that for other reasons, but the palsey only lasted two or three weeks. Which can seem like an eternity, I know. Do try to rest and not stress your poor bod any more than it already is. And wrapping your face in hot, moist towels can help. As I understand it, it's viral in nature, and generally helping your body rebuild itself enables it to give viruses the boot. So, take extra good care of yourself and take B-vitamins, especially, to help deal with the other stress factors in your life that are no doubt dragging your immune system down anyway. Take good care, ww/a.k.a. Nurse Pansy Rue |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Bill D Date: 03 Oct 00 - 09:07 PM Kendall....now is the time to learn some of those rock & roll and 'new' pop songs!...they don't usually require as much pronunciation control...*wink*....and when you get over this nonsense, you can sing along with Mbo on LOTS of stuff!......

Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: SINSULL Date: 03 Oct 00 - 09:02 PM I'm lost. Who's pregnant? - doesn't matter. Congratulations!!! Unless of course it's Kendall. Then...well... And what do mudpacks have to do with any of this? I had one vodka/tonic to prepare for the debate and I come back to this enigma. Help. |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: harpgirl Date: 03 Oct 00 - 08:50 PM
...I recommend mudpacks!! |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: harpgirl Date: 03 Oct 00 - 08:33 PM ...I guess this isn't a good time to tell you about the pregnancy! |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: bflat Date: 03 Oct 00 - 06:42 PM Kendall, My friend had Bell's Palsey. After a few weeks she had a complete recovery. You would never know that she had ever had it. Best wishes to you, try to rest your anxiety about it. bflat |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Oct 00 - 06:38 PM Hey Kendall......The chicken soup may be just the ticket! Does the word salmonella mean anything to you? Thanks Bart..... Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Jim the Bart Date: 03 Oct 00 - 06:25 PM Hang tough, Kendall. It seems to be "bad things happening to good people month". Believe it or not, 'Spaw seems to have hit on the best course of action - try to keep your mind calm, get the furnace fixed, rest your voice and remember that this, too, will pass. I'll try to send out some positive thoughts. Like chicken soup - it wouldn't hurt. . . |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Susan from California Date: 03 Oct 00 - 06:09 PM Kendall, When I am in the depths of despair, I try to do one thing that I love doing, even if I'm crummy at it--like painting or something. For me, the result doesn't matter one whit, it is the process. So, maybe along with all the other great advice, try doing something, anything, that takes concentration. If you concentrate on the process it crowds out whatever is bugging you. Even if it's temporary. |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Mbo Date: 03 Oct 00 - 05:55 PM About 10 years ago (God has it been that long?) my cousin had Bell's Palsy. He had it for about a year before it was finally controlled. Best wishes for a full recovery to you kendall. Also, I picket up Radiohead's new album KID A today, so I can't wait to annoy you some more ;-) Get well, friend --Matt |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 03 Oct 00 - 05:09 PM Well, Kendall, shit happens- it stinks and your friends hate to see it happen to you. But hey, it makes great fertilizer- I'm hoping for many fertile harvests from you, y'old salt! Hang in there (you too, 'Spaw!) |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Noreen Date: 03 Oct 00 - 05:05 PM Nah, Jeri, they don't give refunds on used 'Spaws, (or Kendalls, come to that)! :0) Noreen |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Jeri Date: 03 Oct 00 - 04:56 PM The less than helpful stuff is coming from someone who's doing a very good job of diversion from his comments above, as in "I just came from the cardiologist and it seems they could have done a bit more tweakin' on the bypass they did three years ago." Yeah, Spaw - I saw it. I'm wondering if you have to go back to the shop, or what. |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: SINSULL Date: 03 Oct 00 - 04:48 PM Kendall, Try to ignore his less than helpful advice unless it makes you laugh -- then enjoy it. We are all sympathetic. Maybe if you grow back your beard you can hide the worst of it until it's gone. It will go away. |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Oct 00 - 04:14 PM Good point Jeri, especially since he's been out after them Sugar Maples again............... Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Jeri Date: 03 Oct 00 - 03:54 PM A page of Bell's Palsy info links. Kendall, maybe you should ask your doc to be tested for Lyme Disease. (Hey, it's really reaching; the idea is "out there," but I sure as hell would ask.) |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Ely Date: 03 Oct 00 - 03:54 PM My guitar teacher got Bell's Palsy (he was ~40 at the time). He got over it fine, too, although it really bugged him for a while. Good luck on your recovery (on both counts). |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Oct 00 - 03:15 PM Well Sins, I didn't want to bring it up, but Kendall has been out wankin' on them Sugar Maples again............. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: SINSULL Date: 03 Oct 00 - 03:09 PM Play it again, Kendall... it works for me Spaw. What is your problem? And what the hell is a "strees" relationship? |

Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:45 PM Ya know Sins, I'm havin' a hard time seein' Kendall as Bogey...........Harry Truman perhaps, but not Bogey. From what has been said and from what I've just read, this seems to be more of a pain in the rump than anything else and I did run across info on strees relationships to it. So........... CHILL OUT KENDALL!!!!! There. That oughta' do it........... Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: SINSULL Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:34 PM Kendall, I know several people who have had it. All recovered in a few months with no side effects or relapses. This one is easy. And the furnace can be replaced. Keep in mind that your voice doesn't have to be - replaced I mean. I can guarantee that you are more aware of it than anyone else. Look what Bogart did with that little slur. Make the most of it. By the way, they do come in threes and you have officially had your share. Mary |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Noreen Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:32 PM Hi Kendall, My sister had Bell's Palsy while she was a medical student. Though disconcerting at the time, she made a compete recovery. I'll find out some more from her for you if you'd like. Sympathy Noreen |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Bert Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:29 PM Not you too Spaw? Just you snap out of it you hear! Or Cletus and the boys will be 'round with that ol' broad axe and the duct tape. Fix you up right this time. Bert. |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Ebbie Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:29 PM Kendall, it sounds like you're pre-paying a lot of trouble. Just think of the trouble-free years ahead of you! The best to you, and soon. Ebbie |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: khandu Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:24 PM Praise, I am in agreement with you on this all the way. Kendall, use that anger against the bastard! I'll stand forever with Praise on your behalf against this crap. Again, KEEP PRESSING ON, my friend. khandu |

Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: CarolC Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:19 PM A friend of mine, an amazing fiddle player, had Bell's a couple of years ago. It went away after a few months and some medication. The medication made her a little off form, but other than that, she functioned pretty well. She didn't do much performing while she was recovering, but now she's doing fine and hasn't had any relapses that I know of. And she's playing her fiddle better than ever. Hope you get better soon. Carol |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:17 PM Ah Kendall my friend, I don't know what to tell ya'. The gawddam bear always suits up for the game don't he? I can commiserate with you. You live your life doing fine and then when something goes wrong, it REALLY goes wrong!!! What can I say......Smile partner (as best you can) and know we're all here on YOUR side whether it does any good or not. I mean don't go tellin' whatever god it is you might pray to that you know that 'Spaw guy or you'll be permanently screwed.....But you have my best thoughts with you for whatever they're worth!!! Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Rick Fielding Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:13 PM Hi Kendall, bad stuff guy. My friend Gordon has gone through bouts of this for years, and it's more irritating than anything else. Hang tough. Rick |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Morticia Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:13 PM I'm really sorry about this Kendall, such a bastard right on top of all else.......my understanding, which is limited I'm afraid, suggests that BP is or can be stress-induced....you've had plenty of that recently I know...I also read where keeping the affected muscles warm ( and especially out of drafts) will help recovery time.Hugs and best wishes, Terri |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Clinton Hammond2 Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:11 PM One of my barmen got hit with Bells last year... He's fine now... but it took a while he said... It still get's him a bit when he's really tired... his one eyelid droops and his speach slurs a bit... but it rarely if ever happens... Good luck mate! {~` |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: wysiwyg Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:08 PM kendall, what if we all got really angry about this with you, and prayed it THE HELL AWAY FROM YOU. I am not SAYING it right but I MEAN something right about that, I know. I am sure of it. Also see the links in my health update thread. Maybe they'll help. If so PM me for more info. Anyway here's my prayer. Now look, Catters, this is strong stuff, don't flip out on me now. CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IN THE NAME OF JESUS, I COMMAND YOU DEPART AT ONCE AND FOREVER TO THE PLACE PREPARED FOR YOU!!!! ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: MMario Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:07 PM Kendall, I truly hope your problems are over. did a quick scan of some literature, nothing very threatening in there about Bell's Palsy, but interesting to note that highest incidence of occurrence is in 25-30 year olds! |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: khandu Date: 03 Oct 00 - 02:05 PM Not familiar with Bell's. I can relate to your troubles, and all I can say is, Keep pressing on. My heart is with you. Do troubles come in threes? Seems at times they come in three millions. But inside you is everything you need to to meet them headlong. Don't let the bastards get you down! khandu |
Subject: RE: BS: more problems From: Bert Date: 03 Oct 00 - 01:58 PM Bummer Kendall, here's wishing you a speedy recovery. |
Subject: more problems From: kendall Date: 03 Oct 00 - 01:54 PM Is it really true that trouble comes in groups of three? I sure hope so, 'cause I just got the last straw. As you know, last July I had a cyst removed from my vocal chord. I've not yet recovered from that completely, then, last week, I went to light my furnace and it had had it, gotta have a new one, and the latest thing is, a couple of days ago, I lost control of my lips and eyelid on the right side! Before, I sounded like a frog, now, I sound like a frog with a speech impediment! Doctor says it is something called Bells Palsy, and, although not serious, it could last for weeks or months. Anyone had any experience with this crap? |
