I always took it this was being sung in (or about) winter.

.... Ooooh, this takes me back: my favourite record when I was a youngster was a 78 RPM, which used the chorus of this as the intro and outro for a three-minute comedy patter. (I understand that that was the standard MO for a music-hall act.)

I only grepped --- sorry! --- searched for this on a whim. Good to see the full lyrics after all these decades.

I have always heard the chorus as when the Dew is dewing not when the snow is snowing. It does not snow in summer.

I think this song is a song of one of the greatest Scottish entertainers, Sir Harry Lauder. Is that right? The lyrics you wrote may be a bit different from ones I know. I'll look up the song in my songbook.

Perhaps, I'll be able to post the whole lyrics on Monday.

Hi! A friend of mine, a great singer, needs the complete lyrics to a tune that goes:
