Yeah, Clinton. It was your post in a thread that caused me to look into the BOSS. Liked it so well that the band purchased one for each member of the band. I like the various displays. Easy to read and quick when tuning. Too much hassle for my taste when I am going to a session or things like that. But for performing with a sound system, they are hard to beat.

Mick

My BOSS-TU is what I use for everything except around the house noodleing, where I use one of my trusty Sabine stick-ons...

I have never experienced the problem that Clinton describes with "white noise". I have been using Intellitouch for several years now. The only time I had a problem like this was with the situation that Gary T describes. Once the bass player was farting around and had his bass way up. I was standing near the front and the bass caused vib's in my guitar that made the Intellitouch inoperative. It was easy to solve. I threatened the bass player's life, he quit, I tuned, we played.................LOL.

I use this tuner now, when I am playing alone, or on informal gigs, or in sessions. When we are doing a full blown concert or a pub show, where we have a full sound setup, I now use a BOSS TU something or the other. When I kick it on, it cuts the guitar out of the main mix. Great for performing, but I still use the trusty Inteli for most other things.

All the best,

Mick

Nice idea GT... but some of the places I play are downtown Windsor bars, packed full of drunkassed American kids who come over here to show their true 'idiot' colours...

you know the kind.. the ones who want to hear crap like Drunken Sailor, Lukeys boat and Barrettes Privateers all night... And then yell and holler all the way through the songs...

They wouldn't even notice if I was way out of tune...

Well, heck, maybe if you played loudly enough out of tune the crowd would go silent? (BG)

It's not loud music... it's loud people in the crowd... Just loud white noise...

I have two of them and I have dropped both of them several times, usually with no problem except perhaps the battery cover coming off and my having to put the batteries back in. On a couple of other occasions, one of my Intellitouch tuners came apart when I dropped it; again, all I had to do was re-assemble it. Finally, I dropped one and it came apart so that I have to hold it together with a rubber band (which crosses the face where the note readings appear)--or I could probably use electrical tape.
Nevertheless, I have yet to have to replace a battery or the tuners themselves.

Call them. When mine was eating a set of batteries monthly, i called. They asked that i mail it back. I live in CA, mailed to them in TX on Monday, and had a brand new one by that thursday. Good company!

Clinton, forgive me if this is old advice.

I wouldn't say so much it works well in loud rooms as it works well even with significant background noise, which can include music. However, if there is music loud enough to vibrate the wood in your instrument, that's going to be picked up by the Intellitouch, making tuning difficult or impossible.

A common problem is low battery power. The tuner still works to a degree, but tends to be very slow and finicky. It takes two "disc" batteries, and the battery number is molded into the battery cover on mine.

I second Allan's experience, they work well, but the swivel is the weak link.

I recently dropped mine and had to use a rawhide strip to wrap it back together.

Cool... now if only they could address the problem -I- had with the Intellitouch...

They claim it works well in loud rooms, but most of the places I play stymied it dead...

I sent them email, but they never replied...

Thanks, much, y'all.

Using the link from the picture, I emailed them last night. This morning I have a message from them saying to send my address- and the address of my friend whose tuner broke at the swivel- and they'll send me a new battery cap plate and him a new tuner. Looks like I may soon be in business again!

Thanks again. You're the best.

Ebbie

Ebbie, what's the website address?

If you get a "URL not available" message when you click on an e-mail address, the link, or the way your computer treats it may be the problem. You can hold the mouse over the link to find out what the address is, then manually type it into your e-mail program, or right-click and select "copy shortcut."

Ebbie, if you go to their main page (www.tuners.com) and click on the word 'email' just below the right bottom of the picture, you get some email links as well as an 800 number. I noticed when I clicked on the Intellitouch picture, then clicked on 'Email OnBoard,' I got the error message.

I have also had a recent excellent experience with a broken part. The thing that most commonly breaks on these things is the swivel. That is what broke on mine. I brought it into a local music shop (NOT WHERE I BOUGHT IT) and five minutes later, I walked out with the repaired tuner. FREE!

I wish I knew where to send you to, Ebbie. Maybe the links above will be of help. Intellitouch really does seem to be a good company.

Maybe try again later. I've heard exactly the opposite about their service (in other words I've heard their service is great) testimonials

Last year I bought an Intellitouch tuner. After about 6 months one of the tabs on the plate holding the battery case in place broke off and the other tab was hanging by a thread. I've made some calls locally- no one provides just the plate.

Today I went to their website and the Email component doesn't work: "This URL is not available".

Does anyone know how to reach them without being put on hold on their phone line?

I paid over $70 for the silly thing- I was out of state at the time and needed one that day. (On the internet you can buy them for less than $50.)

I like the convenience of the clip-on tuner but the thin plastic tabs are extremely vulnerable. Grrrrrr.

Ebbie
