Subject: RE: list of chords for piano From: Bob Bolton Date: 24 Jul 02 - 11:54 PM G'day Dagmar, I don't know if this is still available anywhere, but the local (Sydney, Australia) manager of Music Sales International used to sell a "Transposing Slide-rule". This let you match up the two keys, between which you wished to transpose, and then you could read any note against its equivalent in the other key. I remember examining one of these with interest, because I had made a similar device for myself out of cardboard and sticky-tape ... about 40 years ago (and still have it stashed away somewhere!). Like many such musical aids, eventually you learn to do without it - and finally wonder why you ever needed it! The slide-rule I saw was locally made, in Sydney, but it is the sort of thing that someone probably makes elsewhere ... maybe you could find something on the WWW ... or some Mudcatter may have seen one ... somewhere. Regards, Bob Bolton |

Subject: RE: list of chords for piano From: C-flat Date: 22 Jul 02 - 12:45 PM That's a really useful site! I'm learning to play keyboard (mostly by ear) and the chord site will be a great help. |
Subject: RE: list of chords for piano From: Genie Date: 22 Jul 02 - 03:22 AM Yeah, Sorcha, I was wondering about the augmented and diminished chords, too. Genie |

Subject: RE: list of chords for piano From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 22 Jul 02 - 02:07 AM You're very kind, Sorcha! Check out the video I mentioned. I think it's quite nice. I don't play, but I saw it when released, and it is aimed at someone who has played for a while, Middle level. |
Subject: RE: list of chords for piano From: Sorcha Date: 21 Jul 02 - 07:54 PM Whooee! Thanks George! A compliment from you is worth a lot. I found several others, but liked that one best. This is the only way I know how to play piano--using chord names for the left hand. I really only know M,m,dim, 4th and 7th. Lousy way to play, but I can't read bass clef. Have tried many times. I can puzzle it out, but not fast enough. |
Subject: RE: list of chords for piano From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 21 Jul 02 - 07:51 PM That's an exceptional resource, Sorcha!. For those into a video rather than an online resource, check out Tracey Dare's Video A Chording to the Tunes available through Castle Bay Music . This is a company she and her husband Paul MacNeil, the Highland piper, set up. |

Subject: list of chords for piano From: Dagmar Date: 21 Jul 02 - 03:09 PM could someone provide a list of chords for piano? as i am not sooo professional I can manage the simple ones but always have trouble when it gets to things like Amajor7 or more complicated things ...also I have never managed to have the patience to learn how you can figure it out yourself..anysimple hint here welcome.... and also it confuses me as I have to sometimes translate them into german , so any tip for web sites here or a real list of what is what would be good, I know some people will roll their eyes ...forgive my ignorance..I CAN play them once I understand which tones to use:-) thanks Dagmar..there is much stuff for guitars here and not so much for piano.... |
