I'm 22 and have had to have reading glasses since I was 10 and they will get worse with age. To top it all off I have double vision. My eyes don't focus together so glasses are my only option and they have prisms in the lenses so buying them gets a bit expensive. I wen to see a specialist when I was younger and I have a set of eye exercises with cards that I do but I have to say it is easier to wear the glasses.

About Lasic: No, I haven't tried it but I've had other laser eye surgery(holes punched in the cornea for glaucoma) and I warn you that it hurts! They say it's painless but they LIE. Each of the 14 holes hurt. Don't get lasik unless you can see it through. If they insist it's painless, go somewhere else, they lie.

Everyone becomes presbyopic as they age. Usually after age 40 people start noticing that they have trouble focusing on anything they are trying to see close up like type or threading a needle. It's one of those things about aging that we are not told until it happens to us. Myopic means you can see things close to you but not farther away. Myopic people become presbyopic when they age, too. As a friend told me who had her myopia surgically corrected, laser surgery cannot correct presbyopic "old" eyes. She still needs reading glasses. Just get some drugstore magnifying glasses and carry them with you everywhere.

I've only recently realised how poor my eyesight has become and I recently bought some varifocals to save having to continually take off/put on my glasses at work.
The trouble is I can't get used to gigging with them as I feel as though they get between me and the audience and so I end up stuffing them in my pocket. The last time my band played we changed the set list around and so I had the running order hastily written out and placed at my feet by the mic. stand. Unfortunately I had forgotten that my feet were 5' 10'' from my eyes and had to resort to fumbling for my specs between numbers.

I'm long sighted and am supposed to wear glasses all the time but I had to carry two pairs, one for every day walking round etc and the other for reading. Couldn't be bothered with the changing of specs and my eyes got worse. Got variofocals they work grand!!!

I'm long sighted which means that without my glasses I can only read the computer screen from the other side of the room, pity my arms arn't a lot longer!

I'm OK in the mornings before I put my glasses on, I can focus fairly well... as now.

When I'm ready for bed and sitting here doing this, then it's a lot more difficult to focus.

Scaringly enough, after a long evening of sitting in a circle where there was a certain substance rotating (it ended up with me hassively impaling), the following morning, the world was distressingly clear and focused. Makes me wonder about the curative powers on eyesight....

And I'm the same, I have one good eye for short work and one good eye for long work. Shame they are both the same eye.

Every browser has some adjustment for the type size. I think Opera's the best. Try several and see. Also, right click on the desk top and choose properties. The middle tab (Sorry, I can't remember the name and there's no Windows box near.) Anyhow, just fossick around and you'll find adjustments for most text functions. In the Accessability options, Windows also has some sort of magnifying glass. If it's not installed, it's on the Windows disk.

Ok< here goes. I took off my glasses and can't see a thing. Myopia is not my problem- i have one far-sighted eye and one near sighted one- isn't that amblyopia- (whoa, I' in serious trouble here). Can't see out of either one...
