Subject: Fleetwood Mac Folk From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 17 Dec 12 - 07:46 AM SENSATIONAL, Jim! PLEASE, do an ENTIRE album of their songs and put me down for a copy immediately! Jim Moray - Big Love |
Subject: RE: Fleetwood Mac Fans? From: alanabit Date: 06 Feb 03 - 07:08 AM Couldn't agree more! It's a completely different band. |
Subject: RE: Fleetwood Mac Fans? From: Bullfrog Jones Date: 06 Feb 03 - 04:42 AM That very first album (was it just 'Fleetwood Mac'? The cover with the dog nosing around the dustbins) was just sensational -- and then they added Danny Kirwan and got even better! I don't mind some of the Californian pop stuff, but they should have changed the name. BJ |
Subject: RE: Fleetwood Mac Fans? From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 06 Feb 03 - 03:50 AM I preferred the old all-male blues-influenced band. IMHO when the woment joined they changed to a hippy dippy psychodelic band and lost me. RtS (who has been known to murder "Dr Brown) |
Subject: RE: Fleetwood Mac Fans? From: michaelr Date: 05 Feb 03 - 09:00 PM Christine McVie's voice gives me goosebumps. Stevie Nicks' voice gives me hives. Cheers, Michael |
Subject: RE: Fleetwood Mac Fans? From: mooman Date: 05 Feb 03 - 04:28 PM I agree with alanabit having seen both the original Peter Green and later Jeremy Spencer-led lineups live. Utterly superb. Good to see Peter Green is having something of a comeback with The Splinter Group now too...a truly great guitarist and blues singer. I have to say that Stevie Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham and Christine McVie wrote a few decent songs in the later line up too, although I prefer the earlier Fleetwood Mac. mooman |
Subject: RE: Fleetwood Mac Fans? From: alanabit Date: 05 Feb 03 - 02:58 PM These days it's just a Californian pop group. I don't mind them, but I wouldn't get on a bus to go to a free gig. In the late sixties and early seventies they were a blues band - probably the most spectacularly melodic and inventive to come from our country. |
Subject: RE: Fleetwood Mac Fans? From: gnu Date: 05 Feb 03 - 02:45 PM I was a fan in those days, but my favourite radio station plays them so often THESE days that I turn the station after the first two notes. |
Subject: RE: Fleetwood Mac Fans? From: brioc Date: 05 Feb 03 - 02:39 PM its funny to read about a revival!! In 1981, I spent a camping holiday in England with some friends. By chance, while we were at the Wadebridge folk festival ( brilliant ) we heard on the radio that Fleetwood mac were having a revival concert in Oxford a few days later. Oxford being quite a bit away from Wadebridge, we decided to enjoy the festival and then beatle off. the concert in Oxford was worth the awful drive through brittish motorways!!!!! I wonder how they will do on this one. I mean that was 22 years ago!!! |
Subject: Fleetwood Mac Fans? From: JedMarum Date: 05 Feb 03 - 02:07 PM I never was a big fan, but thought their stuff was pretty for pop in the 80's. Don;t remember 'em much before that. Anyway I though Mudcatters may have an interest in their proposed revival; CLICK. |
