Subject: RE: BS: War Profiteers From: Bobert Date: 10 Sep 03 - 09:12 PM Normal, Bev and Jerry! Normal! Like its all part of the right winged conspiracy to put Amerca's working class back where they belong: Boss Hog's cotten fields!!! Yeah, this is how it works. Two 'er three wars at a time uses up all the money that could have gone into domestic (when was the last time we heard the word "domestic?) programs. Throw in a big ol' muggin' of those with jobs to give Boss Hog a big ol' Christmas present in the form of tax cuts and a 7 to 8% unemeployment rate and it don't take no rocket scientist to tell ya' that them cotten fields ain't too far off fir most of us..... By the time that the NASCAR/Budweiser/CountryMusic folks figure it out they'kk be knee deep in the cotten fields... Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: War Profiteers From: Barry Finn Date: 10 Sep 03 - 03:37 PM War profiteers have been around since the birth of this nation. They're only (if you can say only) taking advantage of the situation, still it's immoral (note that in most Muslum countrys to profit from tradgey is against God & country & their bible with the exception of extremists). Far worst are those that'll start a war for power, profit & greed. They're the ones that feed the bottom eaters at the end of the money chain. Since the Viet Nam police action (police action, liberation my ass) the US has been covertly overthrowing governments & supporting dictators use of genocide & massacre & selling them WMD. As time goes on this policy has become more blantent & open till now we just invade, overthrow, occupy & steal the resources & strategically set ourselves up for the next near by encounter. Shame on US for letting it get this far with so much support & so little resistence from the common folk. I believe in (OLD) Europe the people there have seen first hand & lived the nightmare of war & are far less willing to go there. The words "Freedom Fighters" (how easy we say & toss Freedom around) has a far different connotation than just a wave of a flag. So war's good for business? Maybe for some of the choosen few, for the rest of us, we who have to pay & tote the burden & feel the results & carry the guns & look into the eyes of the dying & then die. We find no glorious gain in war oonly the darker side of hell. Barry |

Subject: RE: BS: War Profiteers From: GUEST,heric Date: 10 Sep 03 - 01:19 PM okay it appears that I accidentally stumbled onto the most interesting one at the outset. But did you know that Wolfowitz sits on the boards of both Northrop Grumman and Hasbro toys. Strange world. |

Subject: RE: BS: War Profiteers From: GUEST,heric Date: 10 Sep 03 - 12:41 PM This is too much! I haven't had time to go through this yet, but the first one I picked up at random was the diamond Thorne G. Auchter. Not believing what I read, I googled and got this: http://lists.essential.org/pipermail/corp-focus/2003/000150.html Check it out. Thanks, Bev, Jerry. This requires further reading (even if some of them are uninteresting and overblown.) |

Subject: RE: BS: War Profiteers From: Kim C Date: 10 Sep 03 - 12:03 PM It is sad - but throughout history, people have found a way to make money off suffering. Every war - every tragedy - has its profiteers. Of course, that doesn't make it any less egregious. |

Subject: RE: BS: War Profiteers From: Art Thieme Date: 10 Sep 03 - 11:30 AM Before the word USERY was the name of a plitician, it was not moral, and indeed, illegal. Then it was not only legalized, it was sanctioned as moral and just fine. Now it is just normal Capitalism. Again, sad. Art |

Subject: RE: BS: War Profiteers From: Art Thieme Date: 10 Sep 03 - 11:25 AM There was a time in the 1940s that war profiteering was seen by many as absolutely not moral at all. These days, though, with the capitalist ethic in place and Bush henchmen in the White House and in the corporate bastions, war profiteering is not only just fine with everyone, but it is officially sanctioned and the thing to do before they run, like Enron etc., with their ill gotten billions of dollars. This is a sad time. Art Thieme |
