Subject: RE: BS: Howard U like a new political leader? From: Mr Red Date: 02 Nov 03 - 11:53 AM Seems to be a little of a damp squid, for the Non- british residents there will be more threads bearing his name - particularly when he gets the job (it will all be voted on by the party plebs but they seems to have only one candidate) |

Subject: RE: BS: Howard U like a new political leader? From: Gareth Date: 31 Oct 03 - 03:22 PM Foolstroupe - My quote of the Chorus was an allegory (SP) of the Tory Party. If yer were to type "stand to your glasses" into the 'Cat advanced search you will get a bellyfull of hits, and versions. Including "The Revel" - Downings original version. Gareth |

Subject: RE: BS: Howard U like a new political leader? From: InOBU Date: 31 Oct 03 - 03:08 PM Hi Lady Jean: When I say I am not convinced, he is high on my list of who to vote for, which is produced on two colums, first would look like who I prefer reguardless to who can get elected, which would likely look like Kusinich, Edwards, Dean, Kerry... Then, who do I prefer who has an ice cube in Hell's chance... Edwards, Dean, Kerry, then who would I not mind voting for, and would likely win, Dean, Kerry, then who would I grit my teath and vote for, and wish to get drunk in shame for the next four years but we have to get rid of the little idiot in the whitehouse list, which would be, oh god the party got taken in by the general. Cheers Larry |

Subject: RE: BS: Howard U like a new political leader? From: ced2 Date: 31 Oct 03 - 10:47 AM Here, in the U.K., it seems as if the dark ages are about to re-emerge. Something of the night about the man? The embodiment of Darth Vadar will once again stalk the corridors of Westminster. |

Subject: RE: BS: Howard U like a new political leader? From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 31 Oct 03 - 12:57 AM Gareth the DT has a shortened version of this song - I heard a longer version locally from a Scottish gentleman Does anybody have a fuller version? Robin |

Subject: RE: BS: Howard U like a new political leader? From: LadyJean Date: 31 Oct 03 - 12:14 AM Howard Dean balanced the state budget in Vermont, while cutting taxes twice! He created a program that cut child abuse in the state by 40% He opposed the war in Iraq. He wants more renewable energy sources. He had the guts to put his office on the line and sign the civil unions bill, giving gays the right to marry. Ask people from Vermont. They'll tell you the kind of job he's done! Of course Howard wasn't a quack, he was a real doctor, and that was a real pun. |

Subject: RE: BS: Howard U like a new political leader? From: InOBU Date: 30 Oct 03 - 09:39 PM Howard Dean is a rather popular Democratic canadate in the US, running as a populist (I'm not competely convinced). So How would you like a new political leader... I guess. Quack. Larry |

Subject: RE: BS: Howard U like a new political leader? From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 30 Oct 03 - 08:08 PM Nothing to stop a duck being Prime Minister. Wouldn't even need to be a British duck. That's the thing with having no written constitution. But they picked the wrong Howard. If a wise US electorate had voted for Howard the Duck back in the Seventies the lawyers would have blocked it - "natural born" would have been interpreted as excluding anyone who was "natural hatched". |

Subject: RE: BS: Howard U like a new political leader? From: Gareth Date: 30 Oct 03 - 07:07 PM Funny - Over the last few days I have not been able to clear this from my mind - So stand by your glasses steady, Here's a toast to the men who survive, Here's to the dead already, And here's to the next man to die !" Anyway it was nice to see IDS pledge his loyalty to the next leader of the Conservative Party, I presume it will be the same loyalty he showed John Major. Gareth |

Subject: RE: BS: Howard U like a new political leader? From: InOBU Date: 30 Oct 03 - 06:01 PM I was a great Howard the Duck fan, back in the seventies, but, I am not completely sure the constitution allows a Duck to run for president. Quack Larry |
