Subject: RE: Stool of Repentance From: Bruce O. Date: 19 Sep 98 - 11:41 AM Scots. It's the stool on which malefactors were required to sit. It's called the cutty-stool in a song commencing "As I came in by Fisherraw" appended to "Bogi-Don" in the Scarce Songs file on my website. www.erols.com/olsonw |

Subject: Stool of Repentance From: Jack Hickman Date: 19 Sep 98 - 09:56 AM Greetings All The band to which I belong has started playing a jig with the title "Stool of Repentance." We play this in a set with "Father O'Flynn". I like to be able to talk about the significance of the title of a tune, but I'm afraid the "Stool of Repentance" has me stumped. Can anyone enlighten me? GRMA Jack Hickman
