Capt. Lane is an amazing character. He single handedly began the local Harborfest in Norfolk, and the Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race. He has been an ambassador of the sea for Norfolk to areas north and south of the Atlantic, and even circumnavigated Virginia - Imagine. Great Lakes to Mississippi and back. We have had a Sea Chantey group here since the early 70's and he has sponsored the program. Thanks for your prayers. Heely

Thanks, Heely, for separating this from the Portsmouth (NH) shanty sing thread.

I've got a card ready to walk up to the mailbox just as soon as I feed the demanding diabetic cat.

Neither Curmudgeon nor I have ever met Captain Briggs, but we're sending plenty of white light and good thoughts in his direction. He'll get through this fine, especially with all the prayers and good wishes of Mudcatters.
