Subject: RE: BS: Unusual protest....... From: Wolfgang Date: 19 Jan 05 - 06:27 AM Bayreuth, not Berlin (but who cares about spelling of German towns) and 'park' not 'parks'. One single park in Bayreuth is where this happens. I can be wrong, but the most likely interpretation is that this is a protest not against the USA but against dog poop (and bags with mixed party flags are more expensive than those with just a single flag). Dog poop in a local park, that's what really angers a typical Bavarian and could lead to a revolution, but foreign politics who cares about that? Wolfgang |

Subject: RE: BS: Unusual protest....... From: Georgiansilver Date: 19 Jan 05 - 05:14 AM In anger and protest at Bushs' policies and re-election prospects, many dogs, formerly living in America, have emigrated to Germany. To show their allegiance to their own country, they have concocted a habit of sticking little flags in their own poo as they depart from it. The German authorities have not yet realised that there has been such an influx of canines from the US and will probably be barking mad when they do. The dogs reminisce, every time they excrete, on a day when an American first walked on the moon and placed a flag on it. Their contribution to this memory is to place a flag on what comes from their moon rather than in the moon itself. Subject: RE: BS: Unusual protest....... From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 19 Jan 05 - 04:53 AM As a matter of historical fact.... Under entry for 16 May 2003 section - "In the end, we made it out of Liege alive... I didn't even take speed. I did step in a dog jobby though. We went to the street where someone had been sticking little cocktail flags of nations in each canine custard pie, but this practise seems to have died. Maybe they died of some disease only artistic types can get from working around too much faeces. " This is what I was looking for - now I just need to find and Aussie place.... S. has been a pretty good friend to Germany, and I don't think thinking Germans will forget it." GWB is not at all the same as the U.S. although he and many of his blind followers seem to think he is. It's true, however, that he has had an effect on the reputation of the US ove the last 4 years. clint |

Subject: RE: BS: Unusual protest....... From: DougR Date: 18 Jan 05 - 11:36 PM What do you want to hear, Dianavan? What the Berlin police do is the business of the Berlin police. There are dumbos in every country. If those in Germany who are reflecting their displeasure at GWB being re-elected in such a fashion, I see nothing wrong with it. It's their right. I doubt it reflects the opinion of the majority of Germans though. At least I hope not. Through the years, the U. S. has been a pretty good friend to Germany, and I don't think thinking Germans will forget it. DougR |

Subject: BS: Unusual protest....... From: Shanghaiceltic Date: 18 Jan 05 - 06:59 PM I doubt they will be caught red handed.......I also wonder if they are keeping the evidence in a sealed area... Police hoping to red-flag 'poo pranksters' January 18 2005 at 09:55AM Berlin - German police have their hands full - pranksters in Berlin have been sticking miniature American flags into piles of dog poop in public parks. The series of incidents was originally thought to be in protest against the United States-led invasion of Iraq. But then it continued through US President George Bush's re-election. Police say they are completely baffled by these events, which have been going on for a year. "We have sent out extra patrols to try to catch whoever is doing this in the act," said police spokesperson Reiner Kuechler. "But frankly, we don't know what we would do if we caught them red-handed." Josef Oettl, parks administrator for Bayreuth, said: "This has been going on for about a year now, and there must be 2 000 to 3 000 piles of excrement that have been claimed during that time." Legal experts say there is no law against using faeces as a flag stand and the federal constitution is vague on the issue. - Ananova.com |
