Yeah, I noticed that "Ozark" reference and I too thought it was all wrong.

I suppose that to some Yankees, one southern mountain range is the same as another ~ but it ain't so!

This site says Jean Ritchie was born in Viper, Ky, - where I think she lives now - in the Cumberland mountains...and her music has been associated, in my mind at least, with the Appalachian mountains. I fail to see the Ozark/Arkansas/Missouri connection. We briarhoppers want to claim such a treasure as Jean Ritchie all to ourselves. P.S. Jean, are you coming to the Kentucky FolkLife Festival in Frankfort this year?

If I were going on about politics, I would have posted down in "BS." This is about a new Mudcat member; perhaps I should have spelled it out more clearly, but several other folks seem to have understood...

(Besides, I would probably not be welcoming the President's appointee, but then again this is not BS so I'm not getting into all that...)

Is this thread about Supreme Court Judges? If not please explain to me why you Welcome Judge Mental. Are you refering to right wing judges as mental? Are you trying to denegrate these most powerful of men and women? We need to have a little talk, you and me PoopaGator.
Why is everybody so upset over President Bush's Supreme Court Judge picks? What does it really matter anyway?

You may enjoy picking up some historical threads in the Mudcat's past, notably by Peace, Art Thieme, Rick Fielding, and our special Ozark angel Kytrad, all of whom have played parts in the unrolling of what was begun in the Great Folk Scare. There are many others I have missed mentioning, but if you're incllined you will find a lot of memory lane material in our back-threads.

I don't know this person, but I was so intrigued by his(?) extremely clever pseudonym that I clicked on it and discovered that he's a new poster, as of July 22 (just last week), who has dropped a couple of hints that he's been a US folk-scene insider for a long time...
