Subject: RE: BS: Ig-Nobel Prizes From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 11 Oct 05 - 06:43 PM I,ve read through the winners for five years back, and am very disappointed to find that the efforts of G.W. Bush do not appear to have been recognised. It may be, however, that he has been involved as a subject of research, giving rise to the award in 2003 of a prize for Psychology to Gian Vittorio Caprara and Claudio Barbaranelli of the University of Rome, and Philip Zimbardo of Stanford University. The prize was for their discerning report entitled "Politicians Uniquely Simple Personalities". Don T. |

Subject: RE: BS: Ig-Nobel Prizes From: Stilly River Sage Date: 10 Oct 05 - 07:18 PM Yes, they threw airplanes. And as it happens, one of this year's Nobel laureates was up there sweeping the stage during the event. They all thought that was pretty darned good! SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Ig-Nobel Prizes From: Rapparee Date: 10 Oct 05 - 06:34 PM Oh, God, and I missed it! One of the highlights of the year! Did they throw the traditional paper airplanes? Was it necessary for Miss Cutey to speak? I'm on the mini-AIR list, too. |

Subject: BS: Ig-Nobel Prizes From: Elmer Fudd Date: 10 Oct 05 - 05:07 PM The annual Ig-Nobel prizes have been awarded. Genuine Nobel Laureates give them out at the awards ceremony. One Nobel laureate who couldn't make it sent a dummy of himself which his relatives hauled onstage to hand over the award. The prizes are howlers. For instance, this year's Ig-Nobel Prize for Literature went to the authors of the Nigerian email scam letters. You can watch a video of the awards ceremony at a very funny website: http://improbable.com/ |
