And remember that it takes up to 30 days for the bank to find out that a money order is forged, so NEVER send a refund or forward money until the check clears.

The same SCAM reportedly has been seen at eBay, I'm told; and I seem to recollect someone talking about a band they hired ...????

LOL. Got the same thing myself. Actually, a couple of 'em.

Never open attachment (or even click on 'em) from anyone you don't know. And even if you do know 'em, save it to disk and virus scan it first.

But you folks knew this already....

Not to change the subject exactly, but we recently advertised, in separate postings, a bass, with stand and bag; a bass guitar with small Crate amp; and a loom, on the local newspapers grab bag web (free ads) setup.

We received identical emails, forwarded thru the newsguys, offering to take each of the items and proposing:

They buyer would send us a money order, to include shipping charges.
We would cash the money order, and forward the shipping amounts to the buyer's shipper.
The shipper would pick up the items.

All together now - - - "We KNOW about this SCAM."

KENDALL ... Your story kinda reminds of what happened to a lady friend of mine some years ago. She was complaining because the night before, she's received an obscene phone call. It went something like this:

He: "This is an obscene phone call ... do you have time?"
She: "Absolutly not ... you filthy beast!" (then she hung up on him)

The next day she was mad at herself because by now, she was really curious as to what he was going to say!!!

In order to maintain "traceability of evidence," should they ever actually discover anything of significance, virtually all communication by the CIA, FBI, and Secret Service is done "face-to-face." The most you'll get out of an email or phone call is a visit - if they think something is important enough to follow up.

They seem to have no objection to surreptitiously obtained hearsay, but the agent conducting an investigation has to be able to "personally identify" anyone interrogated. Difficult to do by 'phone or email.

Your emails undoubtedly are in their files, as one of the major complaints against their existing databases is that once something gets put in it cannot be removed even if they find out that it's wrong.

I have e-mailed both the CIA and the FBI in the past. They didn't respond. So, I'm guessing they don't read in-coming e-mails at all. So, exactly what DO they do?

The CIA does NOT send emails.

All their agents are on expense accounts and wouldn't get their per diem if they did anything other than knock down on your door.

Expect a personal visit in lieu of an email reply to your email. They'll have to come out and interview you about your guilty conscience now.

Is there no end to the foolishness? I just got an e mail from some clown who claims to be with the CIA in Washington. He says that I have visited 30 illegal websites, and wants me to open his attachment listing the details. The grammar is bad enough that it could be from the CIA, but I doubt it. I forwarded it to my ISP.
