Mack - maybe it was the perspective - but when I first saw that photo I didn't think the wings belonged to the child. My impression was of a child that had an angel standing behind it. In a protective manner. I'm sure your point is valid - but I just saw it a different way.

Gallant leaves Colbert choking in his dust. Along with his better eye he's a much better technician. IMHO

To be honest, it irked me that Colbert wouldn't/couldn't center the wings on the kid. It makes it ugly. From then on, I started picking nits. And they were there.

Wow! Those photographs are beautiful works of art! The juxtiposition of the women or children with elephants and other animals was simply breathtaking.

I intend to pass this link on to others, so that they can also have the experience of seeing these photographs.

Amazing is the right word.

For some reason, Gregory Colbert's photographs remind me of Julie Dash's film Daughters of the Dust

Like those photographs, that film is truly an artistic experience.

Thanks, Wesley!

I would also like to promote the art of Andre Gallant. He happens to live around the corner from me here in Saint John. He is a well renkowned photographer here in Canada.

Thanks for that link Wesley. Absolutely Incredible.

I admire the works of Freeman Patterson. He's a photographer here in New Brunswick (Canada)

Anyone who loves photography is encouraged to check out this site. I don't think you will be disappointed. Some of the most distinctive art I've seen in many years.
