Subject: RE: BS: That's great news! From: LadyJean Date: 08 Jul 06 - 01:06 AM I just put a pint of currants in my freezer. I'll use them for my Christmas baking. I have two red currant bushes in my garden, and this year, I got a whole pint from them. Next year-----CURRANT WINE! Now there's something to be optimistic about. |

From: Dave (the ancient mariner) Date: 07 Jul 06 - 06:51 AM An ancient Silk Road reopened high in the Himalayas on Thursday to mark the beginning of a new era in trade and diplomatic relations between massive neighbors China and India after more than 40 years of war, mistrust and suspicion. |

Subject: RE: BS: That's great news! From: sian, west wales Date: 07 Jul 06 - 05:03 AM I've just come back from working at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod which finishes Saturday. Despite some backsliding on the part of the organizers after last year's good start on a Celtic day (today), it's an event which does the soul good. A sea of smiles. Turks and Kurds, Slavs, Serbs, and every colour and shade of human bean getting along. Hysterical to see the Punjabi and Zulu dancers adapting their dances to each others music, and falling about laughing. Proves it - this global friendship thing - does work given a chance. sian |

Subject: RE: BS: That's great news! From: GUEST Date: 06 Jul 06 - 04:15 PM Oh wait! I had more movie trivia good news I was going to add! That Kevin Spacey said he based his Lex Luthor character on Kenny Boy Lay, and that REALLY pissed off conservatives! According to the Media Research Center, a conservative group monitoring TV and movies for liberal bias, isn't amused, according to The Washington Post. The group claims that out of 219 episodes of 12 major network shows during May/November sweeps last year, guys in business suits working for corporations were 21 times more likely to commit a kidnapping or murder than mobsters, five times more likely than terrorists, and four times more likely than gang members. Hah! The truth hurts, eh good ole boys? |

Subject: RE: BS: That's great news! From: GUEST Date: 06 Jul 06 - 03:33 PM OK. It's actually a good news week for independent thinking Americans. 1) Kenny Boy is dead. 2) A Republican appointed federal judge ruled that Tom DeLay's name must remain on the ballot in his district in Texas, making the seat a near shoe-in to change from Republican to Republicrat. 3) The SCOTUS slapped down the Bush administration's handling of the political prisoners on Guantanamo. 4) Republicrat Joe Lieberman is on his way out the door, and was heckled mercilessly by the grassroots faction of his own party at his 4th of July parade campaign appearance. 5. Rush Limbaugh's Viagra & prostitution holiday are back in the news. 6. The space shuttle was finally launched again, on the 4th of July no less! 7. The UN Human Rights Council has (finally) come out and demanded that Israel back the fuck off and get the hell out of Gaza. 8. The Pirates of Caribbean movie is opening Friday. 9. It was announced Keith Richards will play Johnny Depp's dad in the 3rd film. 10. And in more fabulous movie news, also set to open this weekend is a new film based upon a Philip K. Dick story. Great news for us sci-fi & Philip K. Dick fans. Finally, on the music news front, Bobert will be appearing on his local PBS channel this weekend. A good week for us old Greenies all around. |
