Subject: RE: Alan Jones? UK Worcester/Shrewsbury From: Mr Red Date: 16 Aug 06 - 08:20 AM BT Directories has no record of that man so if it was to be pursued it would have to be by someone who has his number. & I found this http://www.newswales.co.uk/?section=Culture&F=1&id=8906> Dr John Concert in Cardiff which if the name was not so common I would guess it was very close. However he was part of Amen Corner. |

Subject: RE: Alan Jones? UK Worcester/Shrewsbury From: Big Al Whittle Date: 12 Aug 06 - 02:32 AM All right a long shot, but here goes. there was a a man called Alan Jones who run a folk club in Exmouth for a short while in the mid 1970's. I remeber he had a beautiful yamaha PA, in days when most folk clubs had sod all - the affluent ones had H&H stuff. Paul Downes, Steve Knightly, Phil beer might have known him as at that point they used to turn up at all the local folk clubs. And maybe that friend of theirs Colin wilson. I know by then he had some kind of a track record because Fred Wood did an article about him in Folk Review - or whatever his magazine was called. I remember it said in the article, he used to outrage folk club audiences by singing Sam Cooke songs - and they wonder why the folk clubs died off! it must be quite a common name though. best wishes. |

Subject: Alan Jones? UK Worcester/Shrewsbury From: Mr Red Date: 10 Aug 06 - 04:23 PM Sent to me - can anyone help this guy - PM me & I will give you his e-mail address Hi there I know this might sound rather strange but I'm working on a feature film about the musician Joe Strummer (ex-The Clash) and I wondered if you could help me? I'm trying to track down someone who was in Joe's first band when he lived in Newport in the early 1970's. They were called the Vultures and the bass player was someone called 'Jiving' Alan Jones. I've been told that Alan now lives in Worcester or Shrewsbury and I believe he probably still plays folk music. I wondered if you have ever come across anyone of that name on the folk scene where you are - he would be in his early 50's by now and have a Welsh accent...If you are able to help in any way or suggest someone who can I'd be extremely grateful. Thank you. Best regards Sam Dwyer Nitrate Film Limited 66a Great Titchfield Street London W1W 7QJ Tel: +44 207 612 1754 Mob: +44 7944 855 434 Fax: +44 207 580 3061 |
