Subject: RE: tech: trying to be tactful here-leeneia's computer From: JohnInKansas Date: 12 Jan 07 - 09:15 PM With IE you can click on Tools on the toolbar, Internet Options etc, but the cleanup can't include items that are open. For thorough cleaning, you should close your browser (and all other programs to the extent possible) and use Start|Settings|Control Panel, double-click Internet Options there. You'll get the same choices there, but since you are assured that there won't be browser-associated files open the cleanup is more complete. John |

Subject: RE: tech: trying to be tactful here-leeneia's computer From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 12 Jan 07 - 08:56 PM No, I haven't tried different browsers. I had Norton check for viruses, and it found nothing. I have a subscription for updates, and they come automatically. Let me look in disk cleanup. Thanks for the suggestions. |

Subject: RE: BS: trying to be tactful here From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Jan 07 - 02:29 PM Hi, Leeneia- There's nothing on this end that would prevent you from accessing Mudcat, so you must be having some serious problems with your computer. For the sake of everyone you contact by e-mail, please get it fixed. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: BS: trying to be helpful here From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 12 Jan 07 - 02:20 PM You can change the wording on the subject line, Lynne. (See subject of this post.) It lets you do things like flag song lyrics for the DT's harvesters by adding a "Lyric Add" prefix without having to start a new thread. No idea what the hell's going on with Leeneia's problem though. |

Subject: RE: BS: trying to be tactful here From: JohnInKansas Date: 12 Jan 07 - 02:17 PM 1. AdAware did not steal your mudcat cookie. 2. You are the only one with the problem, according to responses already received, so it probably is something on your machine. Rhetorical question: Did you update signature definitions in both Norton and AdAware before you scanned? (You may be able to get a more recent version of AdAware if you haven't updated the version recently.) If someone has your email address, they could copy the thread where previous replies were made and email it to you. I would assume that you have the email addy of someone who could do that so you could email them and ask them to do it? John |

Subject: RE: BS: trying to be tactful here From: MBSLynne Date: 12 Jan 07 - 02:01 PM No idea, but I do wonder why the thread title is different from the title above you name. One says "trying to be Tactful here" and the other says "Trying to be devious here" Love Lynne |

Subject: BS: trying to be devious here From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 12 Jan 07 - 01:22 PM (I am not a guest. I think AdAware stole my cookie.) First, I had a problem when I tried to read a thread about "Something-or-other Get Me a Floor Sweeping Device." My computer said "The page cannot be displayed," and then I began to get warnings from Norton Anti-virus about a worm. My computer began to do peculiar thngs. So I scanned with Norton and used AdAware. Next I posted a Tech question about that, and now I cannot open my own tech question. Again, I get "The web page cannot be displayed." There are eight responses there, and I can't see them. I'm not having any problems with any other Mudcat threads. I'm posting this to ask for advice without using any of the key words from the suspicious threads. Can anybody tell me what is going on? Oops - freezing rain is pouring down from heaven. If I don't come back, it's because we lost power. |
