is incorrect. The lyrics are:

I need to correct those lyrics after finding the song. I guess I shouldn't have posted before checking them out. I hope I've winnowed out errors:

Somewhere, I have the 45 of this from way back when. If I can find it or the cassette I made a copy on, I'll try to transcribe the lyrics for you.

My sister and I as little ones were in awe of Woody Strode in this film, becoming lifelong fans of this actor. We also loved the song, which I heard some months ago when I was able to catch this wonderful film again. I wish I could recall the words but difficulties with memory are a part of my disability, which is sad because I used to remember all of it.

IMDb confirms that the soundtrack of "Sergeant Rutledge" includes the song CAPTAIN BUFFALO, and furthermore says it was written by Mack David and Jerry Livingston.
