Subject: RE: BS: Just the way it is? From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 07 Mar 07 - 10:17 AM Charles Dickens travelled to the USA and gave some personal readings of his work. it was the only way he could get money from the USA, as the US Govt refused to acknowledge copyright of any other nation, and the USA publishers were making a mint from his books. And now what nation is the biggest international winger about "copyright pirates"? :-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Just the way it is? From: Dickey Date: 07 Mar 07 - 10:00 AM Good point eanjay. When America had it's industrial revolution, what was the scale? What was the population of the US then compared to the population of China now? |

Subject: RE: BS: Just the way it is? From: jeffp Date: 07 Mar 07 - 09:56 AM Because the US and Britain used to be involved in slavery, does that prevent us from having the authority to fight slavery now? Same logic. |

Subject: RE: BS: Just the way it is? From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 07 Mar 07 - 09:55 AM I don't think we've ever caused the same amount of pollution as China - not even in our industrial revolution. |

Subject: BS: Just the way it is? From: folk1e Date: 07 Mar 07 - 09:40 AM There seems to be a reaction against countries like China for causing pollution. Their response appears to be "well you did it before". This has made me think! Were we OK to pollute when we had our industrial revolution? Now that we recognise Global Warming can we afford to let the "China's of this world" pollute during their industrial revolution, or need we insist on modern clean technologies? If we do insist ...... How do we do it |
