Today - again - I got an email from a friend with the names of a dozen other people who also had sent it along about gasp! what book President Obama is reading. The photo of the book being carried is legitimate but the email sender urges us all to forward this photo to 10 people so everyone will know what kind of person he is that he is reading a book about "a defeated America, written by a Muslim just like him."

The book is Fareed Zakaria's 'The Post-American World'. Obviously the email originator has not read the book. It is not at all about a defeated America but about the rising material fortunes of China, India, et al.

Is that one still around? I swear I saw that e-mail at least a year ago. Those negative e-mails never seem to die. Next thing you know Ebbie they'll be telling you that the President was born in Kenya.

Fareed Zakaria is a VERY respected journalist who has a Sunday program on CNN.

Yes, Bill. This is what I wrote back to my friend, and BCCed everyone else:

"Sorry, it is just not true. It is an interesting, well-written book by a respected India-born American journalist, Fareed Zakaria. Whoever wrote this email obviously has not read the book. It does not project a defeated America nor does it have a Muslim view.

What is wrong with this country that people are so ready to jump to conclusions?! If I read 'Mein Kampf' (which I have), does that mean that I am a closet Nazi? Wake up! This is America. We are free to read anything, in fact, we should be encouraged to read everything.

Greg nailed it .. and it is always followed up by the one with him in a turban ... I guess there is no end to the nonsense .. If ya can't beat em on an election, you do everything you can to discredit them .. that is their philosophy ...

I loved the Picture of Obama dressed like Hitler during a health care rally ... yup every time I think of the Nazi's I think of health care cause yup ..they had a health care bill .. LOL ...How stupid is that !! I mean some of these people could not count their nuts twice and come up with the same number (to quote our Spaw).
