Subject: RE: Humber Waterways Songs From: GUEST,CJB Date: 16 May 17 - 10:05 PM This should be mentioned on the website http://www.waterwaysongs.co.uk/ but .... I'm not sure if the guy who runs this is still active. ian@waterwaysongs.co.uk Its a website that needs archiving. |
Subject: RE: Humber Waterways Songs From: GUEST,CJB Date: 17 May 17 - 02:21 PM Having emailed Ian I got no response. I hope that he is OK. But if not his website needs archiving. CJB |
Subject: RE: Humber Waterways Songs From: Steve Gardham Date: 17 May 17 - 05:22 PM I would agree with that. I'll suggest it to the appropriate Web Archive when I can find the link. |
Subject: RE: Humber Waterways Songs From: FreddyHeadey Date: 18 May 17 - 03:57 AM Fear not. Ian is fine. He's away on his boat. |
Subject: RE: Humber Waterways Songs From: Steve Gardham Date: 18 May 17 - 10:37 AM Phew! When he gets back perhaps we should suggest the archive idea. He's not anywhere the Aire & Calder is he? |
Subject: RE: Humber Waterways Songs From: GUEST,Ian Date: 19 May 17 - 02:37 PM It's the Macc at the moment. I look forward to acquiring a copy of that CD -looks good. Internet connection is limited at the moment but I'll add info about the CD as soon as I can. Maybe archiving the website would be a good idea. A lot of people's work might disappear into the ether if it were to be lost. Cheers everyone, Ian |
Subject: RE: Humber Waterways Songs From: GUEST,Ian Date: 26 Jun 17 - 03:32 PM Now I'm back on dry land I've searched t'internet to find out how to purchase a copy of the aforementioned CD but with no luck. Can anyone tell me where to get one? |
Subject: RE: Humber Waterways Songs From: FreddyHeadey Date: 26 Jun 17 - 04:32 PM ...No. Nothing much on line but while I've got the links in front of me : "Spare Hands are Hull's foremost (some would say only!) maritime folk band. They are: Mick McGarry, Bill Sowerby, Les Ward, Steve Gardham and Tom Gaynard." No other info on their website yet but for future reference http://www.sparehands.org.uk/contact/ ~~~~~~~~~~~ A review of their 2014 album "Spare Hands" http://www.livingtradition.co.uk/webrevs/ltcd9077.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~ Do you have a Facebook page Steve? |
Subject: RE: Humber Waterways Songs From: GUEST,guest Bill Sowerby Date: 28 Jun 17 - 07:34 AM Thanks for the interest shown in Spare Hands. The CD has been recorded and we are expecting it will be available within the next week, just waiting for the sleeve to be printed. The website is also in its infancy and we are just processing the information for it. It will contain all the song words from the Waterways CD and our two previous CD's [ Where the whalefish blow and Spare Hands ] as well as information about the songs and the group. No doubt Steve will post when it is all available. Bill |
Subject: RE: Humber Waterways Songs From: GUEST,Ian Date: 28 Jun 17 - 12:23 PM Thanks for that info Bill. I'll keep an eye open for the posting of the details. |
