And boy am I peed off! Stupid dogs! I had a large bowl of assorted Christmas nuts waiting for me in the living room, and the filthy little thieving chowhounds crawled onto the coffee table from the couch and ate the lot. I hope they get serious gut ache. I can't stand dachshunds! They're low to the ground, sneaky, and they won't shut up once they get started about something. Just like monkeys. Thank Burroughs that they can't climb trees!

Yeah. Actually, they will take anything they can reach, except for certain kinds of fruits and vegetables which they regard as inedible. Fortunately, they usually can't reach much.

Apparently this year there is a shortage of Brazil nuts because the harvesting has far outdistanced the planting and there is a shortage of mature trees producing nuts.

Even more useless info - the Brazil Nut is not a nut! It's a seed. Quite what the difference is...

If you were a dachshund, you might consider spare (or even detachable) nuts a desirable thing to have.

Solution - keep the nuts upstairs, and put a pin-up photo of a very sexy bitch at the bottom of the stair case - because as Les Barker has informed us (all together now) -

Dachshunds with errections, can't climb stairs !

I've spent the morning covering mine with chocolate and cocoa powder.....

Pine nuts are also seeds, as are coconuts. The difference I think is the seed has a fleshy covering whereas the nut has a hard shell. Peanuts are not nuts, they grow underground, but neither are they root vegetables. Strange things, peanuts, in a class of their own.

My New Years' Resolution really ought to be to get a life, but about 20 years ago my NYR was to never make any more NYRs... it's the only one I've ever kept past Jan 8th.
