The missus (or ms if you prefer) and I are leaving tomorrow for a visit to our son in Amsterdam. We'll be there the better part of two weeks, so you will not have your humble correspondent, conservative curmudgeon, to keep you on your (mostly) liberal to progressive toes. However I plan to find an internet place from time to time to lurk a little.

It is my fervent prayer that when I return to the Sunset Coast the election cycle will have concluded, and peace and harmony engulf the world. But alas...

Take care all, I'll miss the sparring, but not too much.

and immediately think of the children's song "There Were Three Jolly Fishermen"

I guess that's better than the next song I thought which, in my mind at least, is connected to Amsterdam: "Tiptoe Through The Tulips"

John, please enjoy your time in one of the great cities of the world, and with your kids. But hurry back. I need someone to engage in debate with. Preaching to the choir is pretty boring sometimes and you are always a worthy adversary. So, you will be missed, and I wish you safe travels.

It's worse when you confuse Amsterdam with Copenhagen.

One is a beer and the other is a kind of tobacco, right? Wait, that's Amstel that's the beer. Amsterdam is a town with Special Areas For Special Things.
