Subject: Fr. Canadian - Habitant/P'tit Jean?? From: Mrrzy Date: 29 May 02 - 11:10 AM Hi, this is I think a Felix LeClerc, but I'm not sure. It's on J'ai Vu Le Loup, Le Renard, Le Lion. It's (for the nonfrancophone) about a peasant wandering around with his dog, philosophizing, getting arrested for doing it without a permit. Then a guy on a bike is arrested for singing dirty songs without another permit. After a couple of years the authorities let them out and find a wise man and a composer, who run away at the very idea of having their accomplishments recognized. I'm missing several lines, any help appreciated. Here is what I know, or think I know; I'll use ellipses (...) when missing a line, and mark guesses with question marks (??): Un habitant d'l'île d'Orléans philosophait Monsieur, monsieur, vous êtes sous arrêt P'tit Jean Latour à bicyclette un soir de mai P'tit Jean, p'tit Jean, te voila bien mal pris Et en prison p'tit Jean Latour et l'habitant |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Fr. Canadian - Habitant/P'tit Jean?? From: Mrrzy Date: 29 May 02 - 11:12 AM "Tu vois bein mon p'tit Jean Latours il faut comparaitre a la cours" seems to be the line missing right after As-tu ta carte, fais-tu partie d'la charte (brain coming alive again) but there is still some missing, ven now. Thanks, all. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Fr. Canadian - Habitant/P'tit Jean?? From: Mrrzy Date: 30 May 02 - 09:10 AM OK, more brain cells: After "fais-tu partie d'la charte" comes: Tu vois bien, mon p'tit Jean Latour faut qu'tu comparaisse à la cour Sache que pour devenir artiste il faut bien passer par la liste des approuvés. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Fr. Canadian - Habitant/P'tit Jean?? From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 30 May 02 - 10:50 AM Mrzzy, I hadn't had a chance to find my FolkSongs of Southern NB. I should ask and see if it is listed in the Fleur De Rosier. Both are books by Dr. Helen Creighton. The Fleur De Rosier is specifically oriented towards the French Acadians. |

Subject: Lyr Add: CONTUMACE (Félix Leclerc) From: Jim Dixon Date: 01 Jun 02 - 11:28 AM Ce lyrique est trouvé à http://www.chez.com/musiques/contumace.htm (Frankly, I don't know enough French to judge its accuracy. But I do know how to use Google!)
CONTUMACE
