It sounds unbelievable but I swear this is true. A boy pupil in the school where I taught was called Dwayne Pipe. His mates called him 'Gutter'. His mother, Mrs Pipe, was actually a teacher in a nearby secondary school. You'd think she'd have had more sense!

DtG - but to be honest, nobody in the UK would stretch their vowels like that would they? Maybe if someone tried to shout in a pub in Benidorm, are there any Juan Kerrs....?
