Subject: BS: Jacqui's operation From: kendall Date: 14 Sep 07 - 03:52 PM I just got home from the hospital, and, after a 6 hour vigil, I finally got to see her just out of recovery. She is sleepy and in pain, but otherwise doing just fine. The operation went well and she should be able to come home Monday. Two day with no wife and no dog. Whatever shall I do? |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Megan L Date: 14 Sep 07 - 03:59 PM The one with the window isnt the dishwasher. The thing with slots in the top burns bread. Contrary to what some might tell you beer is not a food group. Baked beans should not look black and adhere to the pan. And dont even bother with scrambled eggs Jacqui will never forgive us if she has to clean that pot :) Seriously though glad the op was sucessful look after each other OH AND DO THE FLAMIN EXERCISES nae bunkin aff cause ye think we canny see |

Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Rapparee Date: 14 Sep 07 - 04:13 PM Will Jacqui have to do exercises too? If she doesn't, how will you yell at her? |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: gnu Date: 14 Sep 07 - 04:19 PM He does not have to. He just won't let her up from the cellar. |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Deckman Date: 14 Sep 07 - 04:27 PM "Whatever shall I do?" ... enjoy yourself, idiot!!! These opportunities come rarely! CHEERS, Bob |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: SINSULL Date: 14 Sep 07 - 04:30 PM I stayed a while to help Jacqui get settled in. One of the MALE nurses (she has two) was concerned that she hadn't self- medicated for pain and got a lecture on the abuse of painkillers. He tried to explain that fighting the pain causes stress and impedes healing but Her Ladyship was having none of it. The other asked about allergies. HEH HEH His eyes started to glaze over when she reached great uncle whoever who had bleeding ulcers from a reaction to anti-inflammatories. He tried to leave but was called back for more including "I try to avoid wheat." Both exchanges were hilarious. Needless to say she is a little dopey from the meds. The surgery went well. Jacqui has a tough day or two ahead of her. That first trip out of bed is hell. But she will be back and whipping Kendall and Seamus into shape in short order. Typical - she wanted to make sure I brought a box of candy for the medicos in Recovery who took such good care of her. |

Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Alba Date: 14 Sep 07 - 05:01 PM So glad to hear all went well and that Jacqui is able to let the nurses know who's boss...*wink* Rest and heal well ma Dear. Kendall, they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder ( As if your Heart could get any more fonder than it already is! Always room for more Love though!) Please give my Love and {{{hugs}}} to Jacqui. Here is a hug for you too Kendall {{{hug}}} :>) Jude Oh and Sins would you please tell the Lady herself, once she is back to reality, that I completely forgot that I have not yet paid her for contraband that she smuggled for me and I will make amends for this ASAP! Thanks in advance Darlin. x |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 14 Sep 07 - 05:22 PM Show 'em who's in charge, jacqui. As Pete Seeger put it "Take it easy - but take it!" |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Stilly River Sage Date: 14 Sep 07 - 05:29 PM It's nice when you can get a few days out from surgery and realize how much better you feel. Because the first few hours/couple of days are no fun. Good luck to Jacqui with healing quickly (and properly this time!) and all of you caretakers try to pamper her when she'll let you. And Gnu--Kendall keep Jacqui in the cellar? You jest! SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Liz the Squeak Date: 14 Sep 07 - 05:40 PM I'll be sending over a little something to aid recovery soon... at the very least, it's a soft cover and won't leave a mark when it bounces off the back of Kendalls' head! Take care the pair of you, and both of you, LISTEN TO THE PROFESSIONALS AND TAKE THE MEDS!!! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Herga Kitty Date: 14 Sep 07 - 06:24 PM Glad to hear it's good news. Take good care of both yourselves. Kitty |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Morticia Date: 14 Sep 07 - 06:43 PM You look after her ( though I know you will) and do what you are sposed to do to...any time left over, make up to Seamus for missing his mummy. |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: maeve Date: 14 Sep 07 - 06:46 PM Thanks very much for the update. Please remember that I'm just under 2 hours away- less if I'm visiting me mum's place in Brunswich. Glad to pitch in, deliver food, supply yarn, unlock the cellar door...and yes, pain management is not the same as drug abuse and can help tremendously in the healing process. maeve

Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Jeri Date: 14 Sep 07 - 07:28 PM Pain medication, taken for pain, isn't abuse. It also helps you heal because you feel better and move more. (I took the stuff for my post-surgical physical therapy just because, even though I didn't think I needed it, my exercises went much easier and I tried harder. At the very least, you'll make everybody else feel better. I'd come visit you in hospital, but I can't deny that what I've got is a cold, and you don't need one of them. You gotta love Firefox! My power just went off for a second - computer down, TV off and all the clocks flashing. Thought I'd lost the above message, but Firefox asked "Do you want to restore session?" I did, and there was my message! Do what the nurses and doctors tell you, and take the pain drugs for us. You won't get any after a while anyway. We love you. |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: RangerSteve Date: 14 Sep 07 - 07:46 PM Can't you people stop going to the hospital for a day? For crying out loud, some of us may need hospitalization and Mudcat sympathy, and here you two are hogging it all up. Seriously, I'm glad your both doing okay and you're both in my prayers. |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: kendall Date: 14 Sep 07 - 07:55 PM I just talked to Jacqui, she's worried about me! She's doing just great, and she can laugh without pain, so the morphine must be working. |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: gnu Date: 14 Sep 07 - 08:16 PM Awww... ain't love grand! Thanks for the good news, Kendall. |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: catspaw49 Date: 14 Sep 07 - 08:25 PM The very fact that she is worried about YOU Kendall, indicates to me she is in further need of treatment of some sort or another. Unlike Jeri, I am not worried at all about her ideas toward pain meds. Living with you it is obvious she has an unbelievably high tolerance for terrible pain. Stay in the hospital Jacco.....Trust me on this one huh? Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Bobert Date: 14 Sep 07 - 08:34 PM Hmmmmmm??? Morphine, Capt'n??? Maybe she'll convince her doc's to let her bring a little home for them times when you get into yer stories... Awwww, jus' funnin'... Hey, I loves yer stories... Now you take good care of her when she comes home and do all the cookin', cleanin', shoppin' and all them other womenz things... (I think I hear a new Kendall story a'comin'...) |

Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: kendall Date: 14 Sep 07 - 09:28 PM I am anything but helpless. I lived alone a lot of years, so I learned to do for myself. When I was going to sea I ran the ship's laundry for the final year. Hell, I even do windows. |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: catspaw49 Date: 14 Sep 07 - 09:50 PM I am anything but helpless. This may be your story Kendall, but it is not one that is universally accepted by those who know you. Frankly, most say you are unable to extract urine from high top footwear even if a detailed and illustrated manual is printed on the underside. I lived alone a lot of years, so I learned to do for myself. You did what for yourself? Show me your palms.........uh-huh...just what I thought............. When I was going to sea I ran the ship's laundry for the final year. That was because it was located down deep in the ship where no one else ever showed up and it gave you a place to keep the Llahma. Hell, I even do windows. Yeah.....Because you're a well known voyeur. Ya' know.........When I see all of this stuff together I realize what a PREEEEVERT you really are. I'd ask you to give Seamus an ear scratching but obviously even the dog is afraid to be alone with you....................geeziz............... Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Barry Finn Date: 14 Sep 07 - 10:56 PM Kendall, you can come up from the cellar for a breath of fresh air. Best of luck to Jacqui, you can go back down now. Barry |

Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui's operation From: Stilly River Sage Date: 15 Sep 07 - 12:32 PM Jeri, I have a bone to pick with you! Yes, that's the problem, isn't it?
