Just got this in an email from a friend. Can't wait to try it (though I may modify the ingredients a bit.) Please feel free to post other dessert recipes.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
1 coffee mug
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour (not self-rising)
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
Small splash of vanilla

Add the dry ingredients to the mug and mix well. Add the egg and mix
thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.

The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (This can serve 2 if you want to share!)

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

I've seen this recipe, it made the rounds at work, but I've never heard of anyone actually MAKING this mix.

Something tells me you can really make a mess in a microwave with this.

SRS (call em a skeptic)

Just put in the sugar and chocolate over an egg (still in the shell) and microwave for 15 minutes on "High."

Throw away mug, microwave, and everything.

Use a great big mug and see what happens. The worst thing is that you'd have to clean up the microwave and the mug.

Um...BIllD, it says 4 tablespoons of sugar.:-)

Well, I did say I'd modify it...less sugar and oil and probably no cho. chips. And, I think I could make a sort of *tent* over the top so if it spews it won't make too much of a mess. We'll see. I have to go buy some cocoa, first.:-)

Hey! All chefs go through experimental blow-ups, right?{G}

The recipe looks to use a larger mug than the 8oz-or-so that many UK mugs hold. Some of the ingredients will shrink when wet meets dry, but in pre-mixing volume terms there is about 12 fl oz there.
Australian and "old-school-imperial-measures" users will most likely have a 20ml tablespoon, but I suspect this uses the 15ml which has become the norm in most of Europe an N America.

I would suggest that experiments start with something like a pyrex mixing jug.   I haven't tried this recipe, but can confirm that sponge cakes will work in a microwave, though they look slightly odd to me due to a lack of browning on the outside.

I do know one lady whose guilty secret indulgence is to make herself an individual treacle sponge using microwave and mug. Keeping all the ingredients together in the cupboard, she claims to be able to make one, eat it, and wash away the evidence inside 10 minutes. I will see if I can wheedle the formula out of her.

I thought I had gotten this one here a month ago or so, but I guess not! We tried it and it pretty much worked -- a little mess to clean up (but no explosion).

Would you like an explosion? I can tell you how to go about having one.

I won't say that I learned how from experience, but, well....
