From: Art Thieme

Today I took my treasured Chicago Bulls 3-peat hat and covered it with plastic and duct tape. I don't feel any safer but I did stay dry when I went out in the rain today. The Chicago Bulls are a terrible team right now. If they ever do get better, I'll remove the duct tape and the plastic covering.

Any other ideas out there for ways to used D-tape and plastic bags would be appreciated. Maybe a jock strap made o' the stuff???

This is real big news that duct tape and plastic is such a great protective seal. Did anybody tell Pat Buchanan he could use it to build that wall he wants?

Art, are you folks still being told to wait out the nukulur hollercost under a table? "Cause I was just thinkin' that perhaps the duct tape (I'm too old to spell it "duck") could be used to help you maintain the integrity of your structure from the inside.

Rick

Yeah! Let's build a fort under the table!!!

At least till Mom comes in and sees how the duct tape has pulled the finish off.

It's too late for all those who died on 9/11, but just think how dirrerent things would've been if they'd had their duct tape and plastic drop cloths and tables to crawl under. I do feel better knowing I'm ready and wearing my protective hat. Tell me, do those infamous condoms mudcatters all prefer really work better if they're anchored at the base by a swath of duct tape? But "ouch" !!

I just wanna know if Ridge owns a lot of stock in a company that makes plastic sheeting or duct tape. (Insert stupid smiley face here so nobody will think GUEST's proclivity for conspiracy theories is wearing off on me.)

Yo, Art. Heck of an idea. I got me an old Washington Bullets het (now the Wizzads) and I think I'll do the same thing. The Bullets stink. They haven't actually won a play off game since 1989 and only made the play offs once when your Bulls beat them 4 games straight. Thanks, pal! No, they're so bad that Micheal Jordon can't even fix 'em. I refuse to call them the (Wizzards) and won't until they win a playoff game. In other words, never.

Hey, I kinda thing yer on to something here. I like the look! Maybe you could do an entire line of plastic and duct tape apparel? But if you're gonna to the jock strap, keep in mind that the tape goes on the, ahhh... *outside*!

The duct tape/condom thing is pretty much what Peter wants to do to Tom Ridge. Of course, one assumes he needs to breathe.

The sealing off of a house will probably help keep most particulate matter out, but not all. If you completely seal off all outside air (and I doubt that can be done), it winds up being pretty much what Peter wants to do to Tom Ridge.

Personally, I'd make a suit out of the plastic stuff, with a hood, which I would tuck into rubber garden boots and rubber gloves, then seal them up with the duct tape. I'm not sure what to do for air. Maybe a full-face respirator with air tanks, but I'd need an awful lot of air tanks, but that's do-able. Simple. I haven't worked out what to do in the possible event I'd need to pee or something, but that's just a small detail.

Seems to me that this vizqueen and duktape deal iz just a little sidetrip organized by the powers that be to put off the inevitable bending over and kissin yore ass goodbye.

Kissin' yore own ass goodbye iz dang near impossible to all but a few seleck fakirs and circus geeks, so they hev give us sumpin' to tide us over before we got to get to work on thet prospeck ef them germs and other creechurs is let loose. (I hev wondered why they ain't ben loosed yet,in fack, it seams odd thet they ain't already done sum more of it. Mebbe they ain't none attar all...I dont no...)
O' corse when we duktape the Bobertz over in the Burg now, we iz actually doin' him a great favor, which iz whut I hev sed all along...ain't that so Boberdz?

Yerz,
Tweedzrrzzz

Geez, & I thought I was the only person crazy enough to make a slicker for my hat. When at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS last Sept. I made a slicker for my straw hat with a garbage bag & duct tape for quite practical reasons. It kept the rain off of my head & my spectacles, and kept my straw hat from becoming soggy. (Wow, new name for an all gal bluegrass band: The Soggy Hatted Galz!) Everywhere I went, people complimented me on my "rain hat." Too bad the brim was not wide enough to protect the finish on my old Gibson! I fear it got a bit soggy during the mists of the wee hours jams. Too hard to play the old gee-tar when it's duct-taped inside a garbage bag (rural dwelling personage gee-tar case)!
By the by, that's there I was, at the WVF in Winfield, Kansas during 9-11. While it was a subdued fest, I was quite thankful to be there, among all those fellow musicians & performers, instead of the "regular" world. Now, every year, we will always remember.
