Subject: Review: Mmario's fine CD From: InOBU Date: 07 Jun 04 - 06:20 AM At the gathering for Rick's memorial, Mmario gave me his CD... really fine job, boyo! I'll write more about later today, have to run off to thearpy on the old hand... (played the pipes this morning... healing coming along!) But, it is a fine CD in the mudcat tradition of fine CDs... one quick observation Rick Fielding passed on to me... Do put the times on both the CD cover and on the disk - it makes it easier for DJs who will play it... ALSO put YOUR NAME! on the CD disk and cover, also a niciety for DJs! But a really fine job with really good tunes. Cheers Larry |
Subject: RE: Review: Mmario's fine CD From: GUEST Date: 07 Jun 04 - 08:12 AM I left my name off so I could deny it! (*grin*) - actually left it off as it is multi-purpose - since I play various characters didn't want to put any one of the names on it..and putting all of them on it wouldn't have left any space for anything else. |
Subject: RE: Review: Mmario's fine CD From: wysiwyg Date: 07 Jun 04 - 09:18 PM I liked the CD too, but it scared me. Not cuz it's got scary songs (it does)... Or sounds bad (it doesn't).... But because if he can sound THAT good, then I gotta make a CD too, and God help us, I started today. NOW I can appreciate your "nerves," buddy! Anyway when ours comes out-- just remember, it's all his fault! :~) ~Susan |

Subject: RE: Review: Mmario's fine CD From: InOBU Date: 10 Jun 04 - 07:27 AM No, mate, haven't forgotten ye... it has been a wretched week and I've been out of the house a lot, so haven't had a moment to sit down and listen the way I want to... it is still in the CD player, however, and at some point today, it's on the list. There is an opening, as I can't afford to go to the ol' therapist for the hand, no medical insurence, so half the day has opened up - and it's yours. Cheers Larry |

Subject: RE: Review: Mmario's fine CD From: InOBU Date: 10 Jun 04 - 01:29 PM Okydoky Boyo: Favorite song... Cape St. Mary's, I can see why it refused to leave your mind, and you do it justice. Most comercial song, and one i really enjoyed, the Knight and the Unicorn. I also liked the mist covered mountains... have you seen the film, Local Hero? It is played as a really nice waltz in the ceili scene. Advice? I would put serrious album notes and send it to Oscar Brand for concideration for his WNYC folk music show. Nice setting for Cruscin Lan as well, I know another version sung in Kerry. Cheers and again thanks Lor |

Subject: RE: Review: Mmario's fine CD From: GUEST,MMario Date: 29 Jun 04 - 11:16 AM woo-hoo! sold a total of 17 over the weekend!!!!!!! (okay - I know that's peanuts for many people - but for me it's major success) |
Subject: RE: Review: Mmario's fine CD From: DonMeixner Date: 29 Jun 04 - 11:35 AM That's not peanuts to me Mario. That's the mark of a successful niche recording artist. Congratulations. Don |
Subject: RE: Review: Mmario's fine CD From: GUEST,MMario Date: 29 Jun 04 - 11:44 AM know what was best though? The little redhead cutie (about 4 or 5) that was sitting nearby as I was singing on the street Sunday. I sang a few then noticed she was doing a polite little bounce, bounce "I want to be noticed" type child-dance. So I stopped singing - and she dragged her mother forward and they asked what was in my wooden bucket. (my alter ego - "Owain Cramp" carries a bucket marked "tunes" - "they said I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket and I've proved them wrong, I have!") - when I tipped it so they could look in - the little girl gasped "I TOLD YOU! -He *DOES* have music in the bucket!" (because I was carrying the CD's there) Mom proceeds to buy one for the little girl - I make sure she knows to preview the songs!!!!! |
