... even as I type this, Olivia Rose is being delivered at hospital in Hoboken.

This is a GOOD day!

Congratulations Jed. Our daughter did the same 15 weeks ago and I can tell you, granddaughters are delightful.

Her name is Olivia Rose
She's a cute one, as everyone knows
Of her arrival, it's spoken
She was born in Hoboken,
With Grandpa's heart, plus ten fingers and toes.

Jed, first of all, I'm sorry - I didn't know any of your family was in New Jersey. Now, for real: congradulations on being a Grandda...again. How many you got now? I don't think either you or Louisa look old enough to have grand-kids!

Bring photos in August!!!

Great news - don't forget it's your job to spoil her rotten. And sing to her every chance you get. Yup - a good day.

Your life as you now know it is over. These creatures cleverly disguise themselves behind twinkling eyes, huge delightful grins, and wiggly bodies. But do not be deceived. Their purpose is to take over Grandpa's life, fill it with joy, and when you are completely disarmed, they steal your heart clean away, never to be returned. You will spend the rest of your days completely captivated by these creatures, all vestiges of your macho manhood completely erased by their unconditional acceptance and love. You have no hope, so just settle in and enjoy it. And keep a few of your favorite hard candies at hand at all times.

Congratulations, my dear brother, to you and your family,

Mick

By the way - I might suggest a change in the title of this thread. Unless I'm mistaken it's your daughter-in-law that's presented you with the new grandaughter. But I'm also sure your son had a big part to play too.

What Big Mick said.

I've got 3 of the little heart thieves.

"But I'm also sure your son had a big part" - you might want to edit that.....

Congratulations. Children with the added benefit of handing them back when they're wet.

The best part of being a grandparent is that you can feed them candy, let them stay up late and when they are sticky and tired and cranky, hand 'em back to Mom.
We want pictures, Jed.
Congratulations!
Mary

Spoil her rotten, Jed!

And Sins, I find the same advantages to being an aunt. :-)

Congratulations Jed. My two grandchildren are an absolute delight and I agree with Mick - they steal your heart away. It's also great to be able to say "don't tell your mother" when you've maybe spoiled them a little too much.

I love the irresponsibility that can come with being a grandparent!

"I do remember his passing through
With music and laughter
And I'll pass that gift along to you"
(Jed Marum "Streets of Fall River")
I was reminded of those lines about your own grandfather Jed. It has become one of my favourite songs. So the circle is turning? Congratulations to you and all your growing family.

I believe a certain Francis Albert Sinatra was born in Hoboken Noo Joisey too!
Congratulations to all concerned, and welcome to the club Jed.
