a few weeks ago i made the mistake of being a bit sarcastic
when the Bingo was being called in my local working mens club.
I thought i was whispering to the wife..
but obviously the cider was makeking me talk a bit louder than my ears reckoned..

An old bloke knocking on 70 something just down the table
suddenly reared up out of his seat and started glaring
and presenting fists to me..
threatening me with words I was too drunk to understand
without subtitles..

funnily enough, more often than not..
thats what you old argumentative bugggers seem to be like.

Even on weekday afternoons when you should have no reasonable excuse
for being that so nastied up !!!

don't mater what the topic under debate is,
within a few posts one of you old trouble makers
can't resist starting an online punch up !!!

..very entertaining though....

Jeddy/Jade, mate, the originator was being mischievous, knowing that many of us are between retirement and dotage, and reflecting on what was probably a real incident. Sandra was just trying to enlighten posters who use a different set of acronyms, and I was doing a gentle legpull using the way the language has changed, i.e., U.S.A. to US or USA.

Thinking about it, maybe Joe would let you start a thread of In-Ya-Face insults. Be warned though, we have experts!

Punkfolkrocker DOES make a very good point though! SO often , a thread starts out with either a perfectly reasonable question or comment and is then reduced to to a load of rubbish by some (Usually Anonymous) posting , to which Someone feels they MUST reply .
    Result ? Another thread dragged into the Mire !

i thought from the title it was a scrap, i do understand why it gets so frustrating when just about every thread ends up in a petty name calling squabble.   i started to do it myself and then thought whats the point? it doesn't get anywhere and only makes the person you are insulting more likely to dig their heels in. it then becomes a game to see who can be the most offencive, really screwing up the thread.

so any insults here have been with a silly grin and cheeky face!!!
