Is there a chance in this programmme to verify Mudcatters with most messages without checking individual members?
If not, which members might be nominees for this "title"?

Amos, just found out that since your first message in november, 99 you sent more than 13 messages on the average per day! Unbelievable, but true.
You are the champion, I believe.

Catspaw held the title for several years, but he kept getting interrupted with minor stuff...like runs to the hospital....so he eased up and was overtaken by Amazing Amos, who never even catches cold, and has something to say on every subject, even if he has to invent a subject so he can expound on stuff never before IN categories!

(John in Kansas 'might' catch up, but he types so many words into each post that he'll never get credit.)

How can anyone determine who has the most messages? Do people mean posts?

I'll give Amos the clap. Sure he can outpost Spaw on accounta he never gets sick on accounta he wears a sweater in the mornings and evenings when it's almost cool out there in sunny land.

13 posts per day on average? Hmmmm... that's an unlucky number. Yer just gonna have to step it up a notch, A.

Used to be on any given day, gargoyle would assure us all that Spaw and I held that title and would be the almost immediate demise of the place. But, we both started to taper off to where I see he is at a fairly modest 23,412 and I am at 31,501.

You may click on anyone's name in the title stuff of each posting and see at the bottom of the page which comes up, a total of number of postings.

You may also go to Quick Links, scroll down the drop-down menu to Old Adv. Forum Search and follow that to put in their name, then sit back and watch. It should come up with every posting they ever made, but some early ones still don't show since the crash. The Quick Links is esp. helpful if you want to find someone but aren't sure of their exact Mudcat name, etc.

This is an oft-asked question that should be in the FAQ. It's a good question, but it always has the same answers.

To the answers above I would add that there are some members who, for a time, specialized in answering lyric requests whether they knew damn-all about the given song or not, because Google didn't exist yet and because they were damn good searchers who knew how and where to look. They also knew how to post songs in DT-submission form before there was a preview function here for people to check their own HTML before submitting a post. Add to that people who still specialize in looking up long-unanswered requests so that the database will be a good reference over time.

Also there were and are people who refreshed requests before they fell off the day's threadlist page so that more Catters could have a chance of seeing the request-- these refreshes are now, I believe, automatically deleted. But in the long-ago they weren't, and they could really run a post-count up.

Also some of us used to do a lot of new-member welcoming and, again, that drove the post counts up.

So, in other words, the answer to the question doesn't signify much, actually.

~Susan

Years ago I kept a list of Mudcat records that are not obvious from easy inspection and at that time Amos was leader in "most posts within 24 hours" with 63 posts on Feb 29th 2000.

Sorcha was leader in the "most posts on their first official Mudcat day" with 23 which was perhaps one of the reasons why someone (Anonymous, of course) came up with the idea that Sorcha was just a cover-name for Katlaughing.
