Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 02 Feb 06 - 02:43 PM As a result of the closure of the Sun Inn the Tuesday night "acoustic workshop" will move to the back room at the Monk's Walk as of this coming Tuesday. An hour or so of playing from music until about 9.30 then a sing/playaround for the rest of the night. R |

Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 05 Feb 06 - 03:05 AM I won't make it today - I've spent the last two days in bed with a bad chest and head. Hope the session goes well R |

Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: GUEST,ossonsanscookie Date: 07 Feb 06 - 07:25 AM You missed a great session Rog, but you were sorely missed hope yer chest gets better for this week. It is back to the Hodgesons I believe. |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Les from Hull Date: 07 Feb 06 - 10:23 AM Sorry you couldn't make it Rog. I did my best to see that 'a certain anniverary' didn't go unnoticed! |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 07 Feb 06 - 11:26 AM I knew that I could rely on you to recall "the day the music died" Les R |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 08 Feb 06 - 11:55 AM We had our first Tuesday session in the Monk's Walk yesterday and it went well. Although I know that we are at Hodgson's this coming Sunday, I would like to see the Sun Sunday sessions coming to the Monk's in future - the beer is better. The pattern then would be: First, second and occasional fifth Sundays in Monk's Third and fourth Sundays at Hodgson's Any opinions on that? R |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: oombanjo Date: 08 Feb 06 - 02:12 PM Sounds ok with me Rog, you know what my thoughts are on the Sun "listed" has anyone emailed enterprise. |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Linda Kelly Date: 08 Feb 06 - 03:11 PM sorry to hear you have been unwell rog -I have spent 4 days in a different bed with the same thing- I know there is the beer argument but I find the smoke in the Monk;s just about unbearable so tend to avoid there -there is a light on in the Sun most days what s going on? |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: GUEST,ossonsanscookie Date: 09 Feb 06 - 03:34 AM Have you talked to Lorraine about that Rog? |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 09 Feb 06 - 12:22 PM Yes, Mick I spoke to her on Tuesday after our first acoustic workshop there. She says that she would happily have us in every Sunday! But I did emphasis that this is a collective and that it would have to go to the vote to see if we went there on the 2nd and 5th weeks. Linda - I was hoping that we might hold the extra sessions in the back room (with the open fire) where the smoke dissipates better due to there being no ceiling. R |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: GUEST,ossonsanscookie Date: 10 Feb 06 - 03:43 AM That's great Rog.it certainly gets my vote. Appreciate the concerns of the non smokers amongst us, but I did put the idea of moving back into that room a while ago and most people seemed to want to remain in the bar. After saying that it worked very well at the Bev. festival so maybe we give it a try and see how it goes. |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Carol Date: 10 Feb 06 - 10:27 AM Can I put a vote in for the less smokey room please? hope to get over on Sunday afternoon about 3?? |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Carol Date: 10 Feb 06 - 10:31 AM Looks like it's Hodgson's this Sunday? |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 10 Feb 06 - 11:27 AM Yes, Hodgson's this week |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 10 Feb 06 - 11:29 AM Is my memory failing or did someone say that we couldn't use Hoadgson's on the 19th because of a function being booked in there? If that is the case, how about Monk's that week? R |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: ET Date: 10 Feb 06 - 02:30 PM The Monksd Tuesday night is ok in the end bit of the bar - its sort of separated from the main bar but sort of connected if you get my drift. Problem was the huge roaring fire that toasted anyone too close. Rest of the room was cool enough. Not sure if it is large enough for Sunday Session but smoke would at least have somewhere to rise. Hodgsons is a good playing venue and the Guiness is ok but I am told the other beer is not too good and expensive. Mine Host at Hodgsons is ok if a little uninterested. I think there is a function on on the 19th but we could confirm this Sunday and decided were to go. Another offer was the Tiger - landlord is keen but rooms at back are small and large room has thick carpet and loads bookings. See you all Sunday |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: GUEST,simon brumfitt (new landord) at sun inn Date: 11 Feb 06 - 11:48 AM as of picking keys up on monday, all previous music sessions are invited to plz come and see me regarding carrying on with previous good relations with both yourselves and the pub. and hopefully we will be able to bring the pub back to its full potential of what we all know it is well capable of .any ideas more than welcome. hope to hear from you all soon simon. |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Hand-Pulled Boy Date: 12 Feb 06 - 06:16 AM If you are being serious then please register properly with the Mudcat cafe and then people will be able to PM you with their requests. |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: GUEST,ossonsanscookie Date: 13 Feb 06 - 10:52 AM Simon and his partner came into Hodgesons latish on Sunday.Unfortunatley most people had gone, but those who remained left them in no doubt on our feelings about the "Sun" and "Enterprise Inns" After what can only be described as a frank, open and positive discussion,my impression is that Simon and his partner are commited to get the "Sun" back on track both as a great pub and an even better music venue. We are meeting in the "Monks" this coming Sunday were we will fill all who are intrested in with more detail. I wish to assure all our loyal fans, friends, musicians and singers who have supported the "Monks Walk" session on the first Sunday of the month, that whatever happens in the future that session will continue to run. |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: Linda Kelly Date: 13 Feb 06 - 02:03 PM Was.n't making a big thing of the smoking thing at Monk's certainly don't want people to accomodate changes just for me-happy just to accept that I can't go there and be comfortable. Although a non smoker I unfortunately am prone to breathing problems - I am 10 days in to an horrendous chest infection at the moment which I cannot shake off! Lets just hope the Sun is up and running soon and thank goodness we have a choice of venues with Landlords happy to accomodate us! |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: GUEST,ossonsanscookie Date: 14 Feb 06 - 09:56 AM No problem Linda, as you know we try and accomadate everyone at the sessions. |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: oombanjo Date: 14 Feb 06 - 04:22 PM As I had left when Simon & partner arrived John gave me the gist of the meeting. A thought on this is that it is not just the relief landlords that we want to sit down with, it's also a full time representetive from the brewery, as we are all fully aware without their full commitment to put right the general workings of the pub,and commitment to produce a lasting landlord, it just aint gonna work . So if Simon and his partner are following this thread, set up the meeting, let us know the venue time and date and we will be there to meet you, none of us want to see the pub go but it has to be brought into good order, also the committee fringe will be there, Cheers Oombanjo. ps I'll be at Gainsborough this week end for the first of the year Old time music fest.have a goodun |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: ossonflags Date: 15 Feb 06 - 06:26 AM Yes I do agree John that meeting with a rep fom the brewery is a good idea. But in fairness to Simom and his partner I think it is worth mentioning that this is the first time ever any one from the "Sun" has bothered to meet with us in whatever capacity, that has to be step in the right direction. As Missisipi JoHn has probably mentioned we was told that the "Sun" would not open untill the pub was put into first rate order. Over to you Simon. |
Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: ET Date: 15 Feb 06 - 01:56 PM Its nice to be wanted at least. |

Subject: RE: Beverley Sessions 2006 From: oombanjo Date: 15 Feb 06 - 02:55 PM I called in today and the pub was being cleaned from top to bottom.I explained to Simon that as a whole we only want the best for the pub and more'so the landlord, Simon is going to give my email to the brewery in order to set up a meeting with them, the brewery, and ourselvs. I will post when I have a futher update. Cheers Oombanjo. |
