I don't know if this exactly fits under the heading of "de-cluttering" but I've managed to lose 35 pounds since last summer. In my mind I still have 15 more to go. But I'm under 200 pounds for the first time in decades. So I've pulled out lots of old T-shirts from boxes in the back of the closet and I'm wearing them. And I'm taking bunches of old fat clothes to the clothing bank at our church. And shopping for new stuff.

Hurray for Weight Watchers!!

Wesley, it doesn't count, because they didn't go away. I found 25 or so of those pounds you lost, picked them up here and there. Send them farther away next time, please!

(Congratulations!)

I just discovered that there is someone selling a hammered dulcimer like mine, used much of the same wording in title, but way undercut me. So while I have 17 views, he has 100, and a couple of bids. He's only getting about $100 so far, but I bit the bullet and lowered my price. We'll see if I can't move this thing out of the house this time. My auction is better, more stuff, more value. And hopefully, some real watchers. I think the only watcher I had last time was the competition, keeping an eye on my auction. Pfffttt to him.

I started an October thread. Let's take advantage of the seasonal shift to identify and cull the stuff we don't need.

Do we keep a stack of blankets for "just in case," or emergencies? Then put them all in one place, don't leave them all over the house, forgotten in zipper under-the-bed bags. Etc.

I've decided I need to go ahead and lose the weight (again!) to use the good clothes in my closet. They're just a size or two too small right now. In recent weeks I have dropped all dairy except yogurt and a little cheese (adding the rest back was a mistake, it was for the calcium but mostly it was fattening--I'll go back to calcium tablets and soy milk) and will take a hiatus on the glass of wine with dinner. And possibly join the thread where folks keep track of this. And I'll work now to identify the holiday decorations and see what I want to actually do with them. The house really does look pretty when they're in place, but the plants have changed so much, maybe I need to rethink the type I'm using and eliminate the ones I can't use now.

October is around the corner. Let's meet it head-on.

One last September post for me. First, congratulations, Wesley, yes it counts as decluttering! I have lost five plus since starting weight watchers 3 weeks ago.

Yesterday, I told Morgan he could have the old trunk we emptied to put his clutter of toys in, if he wanted. He loved the idea. I also told him we have company coming to spend the night on Wed. so he had yesterday and today to get his corner cleaned up. He chose to do it, yesterday, with my help. This was no small thing as his stuff had piled up, pell-mell, for several months. It was dusty, covered with pet hair, and included all kinds of paper items, little bits and big bits of various toys, etc., etc. He had to take a couple of breaks due to "hunger" but, he did a great job and got it all stored away very neatly. As it takes up a corner in our living room, I am happy it is done!

I dug out the box of tapes I'm converting-- knew where they were exactly, but had to move a couple of boxes to get the cabinet door open. Threw out some papers in the intervening boxes and stacked them for later culling. Threw out the "blank" tapes that had been saved to re-use for the 30th time, because they're crap! Threw out a few other poorly-copied tapes because they're crap! Re-arranged the hand weights in a better spot. Fastened a tall, tiny side table to the ski machine for a water station (to keep dogs from knocking it down).   Set aside a few tapes for Hardi to listen to during his longer workouts, to decide if he wants them MP3-d. Set up the system for prioritizing the good tapes to copy and managing the flow. Got one copied and listed for giveaway. Got it clipped into individual MP3s and ID3 tags edited (software). Determining the BPM for each track now (software) to stow them in my workout music folder.

Sadie walked this whole time, while Faulkner hung out.

While the tape was running in realtime to convert, I enjoyed listening to something else on the workout room's stereo. I also looked again at the small-church resource library and music-book shelves, thinking about their further organization and use.
