If you are interested in applying for some of the winnings send me your account number, social security number, and passwords via PM.

According to meta-linguistic researchers at UCSD's Center for Linguistic Sciences, if you say the word "gullible" slowly enough it sounds just like the word "orange".

Had to attest to the veracity of that, Amos. Gullible isn't in the dictionary.

Standard knowledge among singers is that when you forget the words you can just say "watermelon" and it looks like you're singing whatever you should be. It works best if there's one (or more) Martins in the band to drown out the singer - regardless of whether singer knows the words - but that's nearly always true in the crowds we've hung out with recently.

Jacqui didn't go with me on the antique car tour. I called her and told her that I had bad news and good news. The bad news, I blew the engine in the Packard; parts all over the highway. She gasped, and I said now the good news, It's April Fools day. She promised not to kill me so I came home. What was that name you called me, dear?

Here's an intriguing one that sprang up on me while searching the web for newspapers' April Fool hoaxes. It's pretty simple - but that's enough to keep me amused :)

Do a Google search for April Fool, then look down the page for the Wikipedia entry. Everything as it should be. But now try the same search on Bing and look down for Wikipedia. Even stranger, it was doing the same thing on Yahoo until I checked again just now.

Sometime after 2am on 1st April I was half listening to the the Overnight show on the radio - bloke was talking about Earth hour

He was some kind of organiser of the event & was getting excited & dogmatically saying everyone should turn off their lights, electricity supply authorities should turn off the power, lots of outrageous stuff & was getting more worked up. When he said a notorious right wing politician was supporting him, I realised it was a very early April Fools joke! That bloke is very anti climate change & would no more support the climate than vote for a rise in government spending on the poor!

Sandra -

There have been several news notes recently about an organization trying to encourage people to turn ALL their lights, TV, Appliances, etc. on - coincidentally on "Earth Day" - to "Celebrate the Achievements of the Modern World." (Earth Achievement Day?)

Apparently none of the reporters have even thought about this being "political" (probably because their only "news sources" are on Twitter now).

Refreshing an old thread for this purpose.
There is a retrograde of Mercury in operation now,
threatening to make April Fools of us all
(Venus is retrograde as well).

Hubby found an image of this yesterday morning, i.e. April Fools' Day and he sent it to me. I sent him back a message reminding him what day it was.

Then I fact-checked it on Snopes:

Did 'The Simpsons' Predict President Trump's Death?

It was found to be false.

And tomorrow is incontinance day for the Trump tariffs.

Nothing but tears and fears from losing 20 years of friends and co workers back in DC. Some were insultingly notified only by a rejection of their security badges at the door. Its all done illegally of course but in case you haven't noticed, America is no longer governed by law.

I remember thinking right after 9/11 that we were all in Tom Clancy's world.

Now we are in a netherworld where it is literally impossible to readily identify what is or is not April 1 material. That logical/ humorous interface has no cultural context right now,of espeifcially across the political boundries of rightthehellnow.

Not a fan of Keboroxu's resuscitation of old threads. Seems to degrade historical context in aid of what exactly?

Got my confirmation email from Lufthansa, for my trip back from France. *All* the times were wrong, even some of the days, so I called Lufthansa. They had everything right. Looked at the email again - some auto bot (google, I think) had CHANGED ALL THE TIMES TO MY CURRENT TIME ZONE as if I needed to know what time it was in Cville when planning to board a plane in Munich! Anyway. I felt April Fooled.

(*rotfl*) Nice one, Mrrzy. I suspect some Artificial Incompetence instance was channelling Clippie, and followed through.
