I'm trying to remember names, but the story goes that a biologist was once challenged to a duel. He chose sausages as his weapon, explaining that one of them was infected with a dread disease, and that the challenger could choose his weapon and eat it, while he would eat the other one. The challenger backed down.

They caught the guy with the loot, but what happened to the sausages? What sort were they? Smoked or not? This is all germane to the arrest, for as everyone knows an attack with, say, bratwurst would be far more serious than one with black pudding or wieners.
