Please - me an' th' lass being still "Alcester virgins", so can any regular Alcester goer tell us where and when the best singarounds might be found? And is there going to be a Mudcat gather of any sort?

I'm running some sings over the festival. Last year I ended up with a sing with only 3 people in it!

If anyone would like to PM me their mobile numbers I'll text them with any empty-ish sings.

Sob! As it stands at the minute Badger and I will be missing from Alcester this year. I've not done enough work to go!

Programmed singarounds and sessions in Holly Bush and Lord Nelson, and maybe unplanned stuff in those two plus Three Tuns and Turks Head subject to landlord's approval.

And don't forget the late night sing in the Rotunda at the Greig Hall - amazing acoustics.

I suppose I'd better be there really seeing as how I'm contractually obliged!
I might actually get to see some of the festival this year rather than just the interior of the Greig Hall kitchen!

Will be there!!!

Emailed a few days ago to the organisers through the festival website to try to sort an official Gather (preferably with a MudRaffle), but haven't heard anything back yet - guess they're a bit busy :-(

Hils: Don't worry, it takes AGES to get answers.

Snuffy: My sings were programmed last year but one of them wasn't on the main street and only 3 people came. Pity really, friendly landlord, good pub. We really got through some songs though!

I'll be there - complete with morris sticks and a few spare raggy jackets. We'll be dancing in the Holly Bush Gardens (like last year) "We" being Herbaceous Border, which is anyone who wants to do a bit of border morris - whether or not they've danced before.

I'll put up posters at the Holly Bush, the Greig Hall and elsewhere giving details - I promise to avoid the time/s when "Finest Kind" are singing. I believe they're only at Alcester on Sunday, but I don't know when.

A PM - or just a post here - from any musicians who might be willing to play would be brilliant.

Sue

I've not seen this year's programme yet, but last year the singarounds in the Holly Bush and Lord Nelson were scheduled from noon to 11pm Saturday, and noon to 5pm on Sunday, with individual MCs/hosts covering roughly 90-minute/2hour slots

Shouldn't think things will be much different this year.

As usual, I'll be there with the Shakespeare Mummers on the Friday evening (at 8.30pm in The Three Tuns and 9.30pm in The Holly Bush) and on Saturday & Sunday with the Shellback Chorus and running a singaround or two. Busy, busy!
Don't miss the sings in the Fire Station (a great venue) and particularly the big chorus sing in the foyer of The Greig Hall after the evening concert!
"Dancing and singing, bell ringing!"

Don't be too despondent about not hearing anything back from the organisers yet Guru, I'm supposed to be an playing and as yet (4pm Wednesday) I don't know when or where I'm supposed to be doing it!

Never mind, at least if I'm late for a soundcheck it won't be due to my usual timekeeping efforts!

See you there!

BTW ZM, that's a great idea of yours letting people know if there's some room in a Sing - Good Girlie!!!

Don't worry, Hils, your number is on my phone, so expect a call.

BTW, if you go up to the Rotunda and talk to Marjie on Friday you should be able to sort something out for a sing. Then, of course, it's just a matter of rounding folk up ...

Are you going to do a Mudraffle? I'm popping into Sheffield tomorrow, so let me know and I'll pick up a couple of prizes.

Soory, it's too late really to organise a proper MudRaffle, though I'll happily collect contributions for the MudCat in an unorganised way & send them on to Friends of MudCat.

Am looking forward to a 'chilling weekend', it's been a very hectic week. Safe journeys all!

Just got back from Alcester. Another excellent weekend.

Many thanks to those who attended my singarounds in the Holly Bush. In particular I would like thank Graeme Knights and Dan McKinnon, who found time in their busy schedules to join us.

Sadly it worked out to be a very expensive weekend for us as the fridge packed up in the campervan and we think that there is a problem with the suspension.

Already looking forward to next year though.

Just back too meself, and would report the same - an excellent weekend, some really fine singing, and it was great to catch up with Zany Mouse, MCP, Guru, ColK, all the Shellbackers, too many folks to mention.... highlights of the booked artists definitely Finest Kind, tho' Bill & Dave, Grae Knights, Dave & Anni, Barrie & Ingrid and Dan McKinnon were all stars!
Here's to next year.

I had a nice relaxing festival, although I ended up sleeping outside my tent from 7am Saturday morning as it was too hot to stay inside!
I managed to change my skin colour a little, ended up serving a few drinks in the food tent Friday & Saturday nights, discovered via a newspaper article that I WOULD pass my Maths GCSE again, saw some cracking shows, Dan McKinnon being my favourite... erm .... oh yes, (I was an artist wasn't I?) and my two sets were pretty good too!
Thank you to everyone who came to see me and thank you for the kind words!

muppitz x

Not all the way home Breezy, only 80 miles of it!!

Have to say the RAC came up trumps. Very efficient and reassuring.

Apart from that, had a great time at the festival. Nice to see so many Mudcatters - somehow managed to miss one or two though.

Fine weather, great singing and good company - what more could you want?
