I've heard of a program that supposedly if you have a midi file it will notate the music for you. Does such a program exist? If it does, does anyone know how/where I can get it?

All the best, The Ceilidh Cowboy.

Cakewalk is one of the programs that will do the job pretty well. You may download a demo from www.cakewalk.com , and many sources of information if you search the word Cakewalk in Altavista seeker.
The printed score will have all the notes and lines but not the lyrics and author's indications.
A possibly better program, though not so easy to manage, is ENCORE which you may download from www.secrel.com.br/usuarios/musica/
A search of Mudcat threads for the last year, on the word NoteWorthy, will give you information on the NoteWorthy Composer (which I haven't tried yet but looks very good), whose home is http://NoteWorthyComposer.com
Best of luck - Andrés

Hi,

Just a few days ago Malcolm Douglas referred to a freeware program called MidiNotate. You can find it here. Sorry, but I don't know anything about it.

Mary

For any Mac users that pop in, Musicshop from Opcode is a good simple sequencer with music notation capabilities.
