I need to find someone with a big heart in Brisbane. Some young friends of ours from Essex ,England are on holiday in Oz.They have a baby who was taken ill unexpectedly and is in the Childrens Hospital in Brisbane and has been diagnosed with cystic Fibrosis.
They have no family there, have no idea how long before they can come home. Also are having to stay in a hotel.
I am hoping that someone might be able to offer to give them a meal or offer a room.Failing that a friendly face over a coffee?
I can give you a mobile number if you would like to help.

I'm unable to offer a room, but a chat would be nice - but I duck out of Brissie fom time to time. I live on the edge of the city, and am not as mobile as I used to be.

On Wednesday nights, there is a folk club not far from the city centre - plenty of buses go right past. There are other things on too - see The Folk Rag (a search here will pop it up).

The Ronald Macdonald House is a place that offers help facilities for such cases, but it may be full at the moment.

I wish I could help. I am about 12 hours drive south of Brisbane so I cannot offer much.

My cousin's daughter has cystic fibrosis so I know a little of how hard things are going to be for your friends and for the baby.

I really wish I could help in some way.

Helen

Thanks for your support. We have raised £1,200 so far over in the UK and put into their bank account, the insurance company were only paying for one parent to stay in a really horrible hotel, so now they are able to be somewhere a little more comfortable and also have cash for food etc and a hire car.. I will get the details of the mobile phone and Pm you Hrothgar. My daughter is phoning them tomorrow.By the way they are Sarah and Andy and baby Reggie.
