Yup.

It's a sports-nutrition way of saying that one's blood sugar has crashed due to insufficient calories and excess activity. Bonking is even more likely if one also fails to properly sustain hydration.

Can also mean a physical blow (slang) as in "He bonked me on the head". Unfortunately there is no agreement as to how hard a blow constitutes a "bonk"; anything from a playful tap to lethal is covered.

Yes, "bonk" and "konk" essentially mean the same thing in that respect. Chongo frequently bonks or konks bad guys...and sometimes they bonk or konk him. It is better to bonk than to be bonked, to be the bonker, not the bonkee. At least, that's what Chongo tells me.

Bonnie, on the other hand, apparently spent a good deal of time and energy trying to be bonked by Clyde, so it all depends on how you interpret the word.

In Rossendale, Lancashire it was a dialect term for a bank, hill, or rise e.g. "I'm goin' up bonk"

I thought the word for sexual intercourse was "boink" not "bonk." Of course, the UK and the US do many things differently...

The last time I looked at anything to do with Batman it was in the early comic books and it was all "Biff" BOP" and "POW." I think in original usages, the meanings were all pretty much the same, including "Bonk." There was a tendency some decades ago to limit "bonk" to "blows to the head," which in some cases could be self-inflicted accidents, while the other terms primarily meant blows inflicted by one aggressor against another.

Various places have a tendency to pick up on a specific meaning for generic terms, and established meanings in local vernacular may lead some to believe that the term then means only the local or "cultural class" common usage.

Your conk is your nose. Clonk (verb) is to hit somebody, it's also an onamatopaeic word for the sound made by a hit (as in cartoons) so is clump(noun), common in HM Prisons ("He'll be getting a clump") As a child in the forties, bonk meant the same as clonk, but now you dare't say it!

True. The 3 Stooges were very well acquainted with that problem.

If you look at them now, you have to wonder how three such singularly unattractive and weird little men managed to build a lengthy and lucrative career for themselves in the entertainment business. It worked fine then, but I doubt that it would nowadays. One really striking thing about them was how short they were...not quite as short as Danny De Vito, but pretty near. I've been reading up on Larry, the one with the wild hairdo: apparently he was a professional level boxer AND a superb concert violinist! His actual name was Larry Fine. Moe's name was Moe Howard, and Curly was Moe's younger brother, replacing their other brother, Shep, in the later years. The phrase "a face only a muthah could love" comes to mind....as does the term "Soitinly!"

"Bonk" is onomatopoetic. It is what it sounds like. If you hit your head against a wall, it goes "bonk". If you hit the headboard of a bed against a wall while doing the Horizontal Mambo, it goes "bonk". If a marathon runner "hits the wall", even though the wall is strictly metaphorical, it goes "bonk", even though the sound is even more metaphorical than the wall.

If it goes "bonk",there's a good chance somebody's going to call it "bonking".

When I used to read about cars and engines at school (ten years before I could drive), "bonk" was used as a term for the sound of a misfiring engine.

The frequent use of "bonk on the head" for "knock on the head" led to "bonk" being used as an alternative slang for the word "head" in the east end of London. (I assume that the noun "bonk" was taken from the verb and not the other way around .) Somebody wearing an unusual looking hat for example might be asked "What's that you've got on your bonk?"
That was back in the days when " a bunk up" and not "a bonk" (certainly never a "boink") meant the same thing as "a shag" . Simpler times they were and all the better for it.
