Subject: RE: ADD/Origins: Orderly Day From: GUEST,JD Date: 22 Oct 24 - 01:12 PM I remember singing this at Carisbrooke Grammar School in the 1960's. (I left in 1967). I remember that Mr Matthews was the music teacher. I seem to remember that he was new to the school and came arouund 1963.I always felt sorry for him having to deal with such an unruly bunch (which we were I suppose) |

Subject: RE: ADD/Origins: Orderly Day From: GUEST,TG Date: 29 May 25 - 03:29 PM Okay, I just had to chime in here. The opening lyrics float in my head from time and today I thought I’d search the lyrics and happened upon this site. Now, after singing the entire song after such a long time, I’d like to add my bit. We sang this song at St. Swithins Anglican School in British Guiana (now the Republic of Guyana) in the late 50s. I also remember “oh no John no John no. My father was a Spanish captain..etc” nd the brook ..”I chatter chatter as I flow to join the brimming river…”. Really brings back the memories. |

Subject: RE: Origins: Orderly Day From: GUEST,Beverley Raw Date: 05 Jan 26 - 07:47 PM I have never forgotten this song.I found it first at Glendermott Christian holiday centre at Anglesea on the Isle of Bute. The memories are faded now, it was in the early 80's, but it was a great holiday taking the ferry across from the mainland with my parents. I decided to try Googling it without much hope of success, but the tune is persistent, I had never forgotten it. At least I know now I didn't imagine it. |

Subject: RE: Origins: Orderly Day From: Steve Gardham Date: 06 Jan 26 - 01:50 PM The Scottish Students Songbook was very influential in the early years of the 20th century and songs from it appeared in numerous anthologies subsequently. |
