Subject: RE: Since I've stopped gigging.... From: GUEST,RJM Date: 07 Jun 23 - 11:28 AM Nick, I was running a festival in june of that year , www.fastnetmaritime.com i was pretty busy, running a festival takes up a lot of time,to avoid losing money and making sure my guests are accomodated properly. |
Subject: RE: Since I've stopped gigging.... From: Dave the Gnome Date: 07 Jun 23 - 11:35 AM You don't need to tell me that, Dick. He is one of my best friends and I co-ran the club and festival with him for 30-odd years. Our families holidayed and grew up together and I see him on a regular basis. My point is that communications need to be clear to avoid any misunderstandings. |
Subject: RE: Since I've stopped gigging.... From: leeneia Date: 07 Jun 23 - 12:08 PM "why is 'road food' in England quite so horrid" I dunno, but I find that food from grocery stores is superior and offers more variety. Costs less, too. Set up a picnic basket and find the city park. |
Subject: RE: Since I've stopped gigging.... From: Dave the Gnome Date: 07 Jun 23 - 01:19 PM I used to 'gig' all over the country and, occasionally, the world. Although my paid gigs were setting up high availability computing rather than music :-) It did pay pretty well and I did usually make my own travel and accommodation arrangements. On the road I did tend to use transport cafes or, as leeneia suggests, take something to eat on route. I did get some funny looks once when I happened to be in the Peak District and took my lunch to eat at top of Mam Tor. Wearing my business suit :-D |
Subject: RE: Since I've stopped gigging.... From: Dave the Gnome Date: 07 Jun 23 - 01:23 PM I stopped travelling about 13 years ago in anticipation of my retirement in 2019 BTW. I enjoy travelling now I don't have a schedule to make |
