Subject: BS: Dinosaurs - edible or not?
From: Wesley S

Maybe I've got too much time on my hands. But this morning I was wondering if dinosaurs were good to eat - and what they tasted like. It would have made hunting a lot easier. You kill one and you'd have meat for ages. Two or three a year and you were set.

But how do you cook dinosaur meat? The closest thing I've had is gator tail. Prepaired with garlic and lemons tied up inside and cooked on a rotisserie. Of course that would make any meat taste better. And you also have to wonder - what wine do you serve with dinosaur? Red or white? Is there light and dark meat on the same animal?

And sidedishs - beans, potato salad - or a green salad and baked potato? It boggles the mind.

When 'dining on dinosaur' the vegetables would have to come from plants that were around at the same time as dinosaurs. Anyone know what they would be? Fiddle-head ferns maybe? You could make a fair-sized omelette from a dinosaur egg.

BBQ on the grill is the best. Watch for the bones however, drop one of them on your foot and you could be gimping around for a bit

Tsk... there WERE small ones! Get yourself a Sinosauropteryx

"Sinosauropteryx was a small bipedal theropod, noted for its short arms, large first finger (thumb), and long tail. It is among the smallest known non-avian theropods, with the holotype specimen measuring only 68 cm (27 in) in length, including the tail.[2] This individual was relatively young.[3] The longest known specimen reaches up to 1.07 m (3.5 ft) in length, with an estimated weight of 0.55 kg (1.2 lb)."

The current theory is that Dinos were most closely related to birds is it not? After that I guess, as in mammals and birds, their taste would depend on their forage. I would imagine that the scavengers and predators would be too gamy to eat the big plant eaters would taste like ostrich, the small ones like chicken.

'Dinosaurs' came in all sizes...from bite-sized up to "Honey, we need another freezer"

Wouldn't there also be? "We'd better eat this before it spoils. Lets invite Pittsburgh over for a cookout.

Only if Adam and Eve had them on the menu.

Do you think they ate Abel's sheep?

Wouldn't it have been cool if Cain had sacrificed a T-Rex instead of killing his Bro?

"Edibile" means that eating it probably won't kill you. It says nothing about whether or not it tastes good.

Dead vulture and buzzard are edible, but you might not like them as a regular food.

I once saw a Newf buddy of mine eating dogwood berries. I didn't believe it and voiced same... he chucked a bunch in his mouth, chewed and swallowed and then opened his mouth to show me had actually eaten them. So I tried it... and spat and spat and SPAT!!! He grinned and said, "That'll separate the men from the boys." I am glad there weren't any dinosaurs around.

Angiosperms didn't take over until the dinosaurs were extinct. So the plant-eating dinosaurs would have tasted of pine resin, and the carnivorous ones might have concentrated that flavour even more. Pine nut seasoning would get a bit boring by the time you finished eating an apatosaur.

Maybe Dinosaurs became extinct because Cain sacrificed them all. Now that the idea has been suggested, it is only a matter of time before we see a depiction of that process in Northern Kentucky.

When finished with a Dino, don't forget to collect the bones and sell them to your local natural history museum. The fortune you can make with that will well compensate you for the yucky taste!

I draw the line at entrees featuring anything remotely human, which includes "Tea Potty" members. Eating that high (or low) on the food chain runs the risk of ingesting major environmental contaminants.
