Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: GUEST,goalie164 Date: 25 Dec 00 - 12:57 PM barry, i don't think that is it. thanks though. the artist says hang up the phone at the end of the refrain every time he sings it. i thought that would be the title, but i havent been able to find it anywhere. any more suggestions, please let me know. thank you. ryan |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: ddw Date: 25 Dec 00 - 10:33 PM A couple of possibilities spring to mind, both blues tunes. James Cotton does one called "Take A Message" and Sonny Boy Williamson II called (I think) "Keep Our Business to Yourself." Both use phrases that sorta mean "hang up the phone," but are not exactly that. Help up out a little, Goalie — is the tune blues, country, folk, pop — what? david

Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: GUEST,goalie164 Date: 26 Dec 00 - 12:25 AM the tune is alternative. it is a newer song that just came out recently...or i just heard it on the radio recently. however, it is alternative, and it is a newer song. and i know that he uses the exact phrase "hang up the phone," at the end of the refrain. thanks again. ryan |

Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: GUEST,goalie164 Date: 26 Dec 00 - 01:01 AM thanks for bringing him up. i know a ton of music, but this newer one has me stumped. ive heard it twice on the radio and they don't say who sings it. makes me really mad. maybe matt will be able to help. thanks again. ryan |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: Matt_R Date: 26 Dec 00 - 01:11 AM OK, I'm on the case right now. Hmmm...how hard did it rock? I mean was it a kind of pop/alternative like say, Matchbox 20...or did it rock heavier? --Matt |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: GUEST,goalie164 Date: 26 Dec 00 - 01:31 AM thank you very much matt. the song is pretty much inbetween, which makes it harder. i guess more like matchbox 20. i just keep on getting "hang up the phone" running through my mind again and again. i know it is not real hard, and it is not real soft...definately not heavy. i guess thats it. thank you very much. ryan |

Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: GUEST,Noreen Date: 26 Dec 00 - 07:22 AM How about asking the radio station for information about the song? I know how infuriating it can be to have an unidentified 'earworm'! It might be worth a try... Noreen |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: Matt_R Date: 26 Dec 00 - 03:07 PM Faith No More? Wow..they were an an early 90's grunge band. I don't even think they record anymore. I've got my bets on this song "Hanging On A Moment" by Lifehouse. But it's so new, I can't get the lyrics. |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: GUEST,goalie164 Date: 26 Dec 00 - 07:58 PM i may have to resort to calling the radio station. sorry matt, it is not lifehouse. i do have that song and it is very very good, but that is not it either. their whole cd is pretty good. it mainly consists of slower music. maybe something will come up...thanks again. ryan |

Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: GUEST,goalie164 Date: 26 Dec 00 - 09:34 PM well, i've done many searches for "hang up the phone," and i have never been able to find it. this has led me to believe that that is not the title of the song, even though i thought it would be. and whenever i search "hang up the phone," it only looks for one of those words in the title of the song. i didn't find anything in the link you posted, but i will keep looking. ryan |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: GUEST,Noreen Date: 26 Dec 00 - 10:01 PM Do you mean you didn't find the song, or that it wasn't the right one? |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: GUEST,goalie164 Date: 26 Dec 00 - 10:34 PM sorry, that wasn't the right one. my song is a NEWER ALTERNATIVE song by a MALE artist with the exact phrase "HANG UP THE PHONE" at the END of EVERY refrain. that is all that i know. thanks again. ryan |

Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: Matt_R Date: 26 Dec 00 - 11:54 PM Yeah, we know Bill. I'm still looking for the lyrics to "Staimpi" by CRAN, more than a year later!!! As for me, the quest continues.... |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: catspaw49 Date: 27 Dec 00 - 12:00 AM Actually goalie, I think you've misunderstood the lyrics and its a Sex Pistols song called Hang On My Bone. If not, it could be that Old Milwaukee Classic jingle, Hung Up On Foam. Possibly too, its a Keith Richards solo cut, Damn, Am I Stoned. Of course it could also be Big Bubba and the Florida Crackers singing, Let's Eat The 'Pone. Hey, I bet its the New Salem Witch Hunters smash single, Let's Bang the Old Crone. Bill's right though........Got a question on something over 50 years old? Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: GUEST,goalie164 Date: 27 Dec 00 - 12:12 AM i understand your criticism towards me. i could've possibly misheard the lyrics. however, i think it is more likely that it is a newer song, and maybe even if you guys do listen to alternative, it hasn't been played on the radio where you are from. i will find it some day, and i will let everybody know what it is...even if i do have to call into the radio station. ryan |

Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: Bill in Alabama Date: 27 Dec 00 - 12:28 AM 'Spaw-- You're in rare form this evenin'! By the way, I don't think I remembered to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed the pics of your crew-- both hallowe'en and Christmas. I noticed that you had no costume for hallowe'en, but then I reckon you don't need one to be appropriately outfitted for that particular festival. ;>) |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: catspaw49 Date: 27 Dec 00 - 01:21 AM Thanks Bill, and you're right about halloween. In this case I've obviously scared goalie and I really didn't mean to do it. GOALIE......Pardner, if you're still around, I have a warped sense of humor at times and the fact that no one seems to have a clue to this song just cracked me up. Its true that we aren't exactly up on all the latest, but most of us listen to enough new things to generally know something.....In this case you have us stumped and that's a fact. I'm sure we'll keep trying.....I tried myself when this was first posted, but none of my search engines had anything that fit the ticket either. I wasn't criticizing you by any means, just making a few lame jokes about the situation. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: Peter Kasin Date: 27 Dec 00 - 01:26 AM Matt R - Serious thread creep here, but I want to thank you for your PM about Creed. I tried to PM you back after I bought "Human Clay" but I kept getting the "no member was found" sign. There's some glitch with it. So, THANKS. They remind me a little of Pearl Jam, but with a more hopeful tone in lyrics. --chanteyranger |
Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: Matt_R Date: 27 Dec 00 - 01:31 AM You're welcome, Chantey. And you're right, that's what everyone says...they pick up the style of Pearl Jam, but Creed have fashioned into something with a message...and a positive on at that. Love "Faceless Man". Oh probably the reason it couldn't find me was I have an underscore in there...Matt_R. --M |

Subject: RE: BS: somebody please help me!!!! From: catspaw49 Date: 27 Dec 00 - 02:10 AM Well its a good thing Ryan as some of us are way down in the Bargain Basement and a few of us are hangin' out way too much at the discount ladies ligerie section. Welcome to Mudcat. Its a fun place and an informative one and your contributions are as valued an any. You'll find a few others here too like Matt.....well, not exactly like Matt, but that's a different story..........who have broad tastes and you'll also find some whose tastes are limited to folk or blues. Mainly, you'll find a lot of folk nuts who also like one or more other types of music as well.....and that's what makes the place very special. We also BS about a wide variety of subjects, some quite serious, others just blab. Feel free to join in on any thread at any time. Its a very friendly place. There are of course a number of old farts like myself with strange senses of humor and a slightly tilted way of viewing the world. Enjoy! Spaw |

I've just found Joe's Lyrics, which is an amazing collection of links to sites with song lyrics of all sorts, from all round the world.
The Joe isn't Joe Offer, but he sounds extremely helpful: "If you have been unable to locate the lyrics you're looking for, email me and I will try to find the lyrics for you. I will email you back with-in 72 hours." I haven't tested this invitation yet.
And of course the Digital Tradition is one of the sites to which he has provided a link.
Anyway, I've put this one in the Mudcat links. If he can find it for you, come back and tell us. |
