Hate to start two threads in the same day, but this one's got me troubled. The City of San Francisco says they're public records they have the right to sell and I don't mind gay couples getting junk mail like everyone else, but doesn't anyone else wonder if this could create a problem? There's some sick people out there. Do we have to sell lists of potential targets for $65 a throw?

I concur this could be nasty, and although they are public records, there is not enough of a pubhlic consensus on allowing these people to be who they are to prevent it becomeingh a serious invasion of privacy issue. Not to mention cruel and unusual punishment!! Should be outlawed on that basis alone!

they have a pretty inefficient records department if $65 per copy is their COST of producing the list.

Weird, I'm glad I live in BC. Public access to vital records are restricted. Births for 100 years, Marriage records for 75 and I think Death for 20.

public records of birth and death are very hard to obtain in California
now, too, due to a state law that recently passed. Perhaps this law
should be applied to this case too. Genealogists have been stifled by this law and are no longer able to help people trace family roots. The vital statistics are only availalbe to people who can prove they are blood relatives. this is state wide, so should be true for these records too.
