Subject: RE: BS: THE 3 essential colors (colours) From: Ed T Date: 22 Nov 11 - 06:20 PM Car colours confuse me. Desert silver looks brown to me and midnight blue looks black. Doesn't the persons who think up these colours talk with the people who attach a trendy sounding name to them? ""If you are pear shaped, best not to wear pear colours"" |

I'll make a brief exception in your case by informing you that I will never go to Blind River. Why would anyone want to go there? |

Subject: RE: BS: THE 3 essential colors (colours) From: GUEST,Ebbie Date: 23 Nov 11 - 02:59 AM It is bemusing to note how some colo(u)rs leap up and smack one at times. For instance, a few months ago I watched Late Night with David Letterman- he was wearing a tie of a particular shade of yellow that perfectly complemented his complexion and hair. I thought about writing and telling him so. I have seen him several times since and none of the ties do a thing for him. As for my favo(u)rite colo(u)r - oh, dang. Forget it - I have to say that it's GREEN simply because I like more shades of green than any other color. To me, green is the color of life, of growing things, of change and hope. |
Subject: RE: BS: THE 3 essential colors (colours) From: Nigel Parsons Date: 23 Nov 11 - 03:24 AM Blue, Green & Brown: For sky, grass & trees. Anyone who parrots "Blue & Green should never be seen (without a colour in-between)" has never really looked at the handiwork of God! Red, White & Green: For a national flag. (Yes, I know White isn't a "colour", but it, and black, have been suggested above) |

Subject: RE: BS: THE 3 essential colors (colours) From: GUEST,Patsy Date: 23 Nov 11 - 05:43 AM I usually go for dark colours in clothing black/grey/brown but blue shades and shades of green take my eye as an alternative. To cheer myself up sunshine yellow. |

Subject: RE: BS: THE 3 essential colors (colours) From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 23 Nov 11 - 01:54 PM Most of the houses I've lived in were decorated (by me) in the colour buttermilk. I also like (for walls) a colour rather like old ladies' stockings, a pinky beige. And duck egg blue is my third choice. These colours seem to soothe and cheer at the same time. I haven't a single red thing in the house, neither clothes nor decor. Hate red, it seems aggressive and strident. Like Patsy, I wear darkish colours (I fondly imagine they're slimming!). Little Hawk, what are your three choices, please? |

Subject: RE: BS: THE 3 essential colors (colours) From: Penny S. Date: 24 Nov 11 - 09:14 AM I have thought for some time that Homer was probably referring to the sea seen at a particular time of day. I had for a while a calendar picture of the sun setting over the sea somewhere, and it looked like deep red wine. With sparkly bits. The kitchen in my new house has walls of a deep pink, leaning towards magents, possibly crimson wixed with white. And sparkly bits. Also walls of silver paper. Mt sister's boyfriend said, on seeing it, "Please tell me you don't like this." It is from Benetton. It is going to be a primrose yellow. I have a pottery tile, a gift from a school child, which will be my colour guide. Yellow and green. I'm debating whether to keep my chairs the pillar box red they currently are, or go for British Racing Green to match the kettle, toaster and china. On the floor at the dining end I have rugs my Dad made, wh9ch have yellow, green, pink and the red of Spartan cloaks, which go alright with the walls as they are, but not the chairs. Lots of my clothes have green, purple, or orange about them. Penny |

Subject: RE: BS: THE 3 essential colors (colours) From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 26 Nov 11 - 12:14 PM Patsy, if I try on anything red in a shop, my face looks pale green for some reason (I am very pale anyway) Red walls are just awful, they give me a headache! By the way, do you, like me, hate to see little girls in endless pink, pink and more pink? Ghastly lurid vivid pink, dresses, shoes, schoolbags, beds, everything pink. WHY?? |

Subject: RE: BS: THE 3 essential colors (colours) From: Little Hawk Date: 27 Nov 11 - 11:23 AM Eliza - Yes, I have a similar negative reaction to the little girls all in pink thing. I can't see the point of it. Also, there was this girl in 3rd grade who had a pink dress and she threw up all over the place in class, and I've felt a bit queasy about pink dresses ever since. gnu - I don't follow that last post of yours. Please explain. |
