I saw Mooh and his wife today at the hospital. He is still very tired and weak, but he still had his lovely sense of humour and the twinkle in his eye. Mooh wants me to thank everyone here for their good wishes, and that he will say so himself when he's feeling up to it.

I wrote a little rhyme for Mooh when I got back from the hospital:

            This is the bedpan, and this is the cup
            This is the medicine - now drink it all up
            This is the incision - it looks like a line
            This is the morphine - and it's mine, all mine!

Dad (Mooh) will be in the hospital for two or three more days followed by three to six weeks of extremely limited activity. Which means almost no work, and no gigs. His pain is under control, but worse than first anticipated because the surgery was not routine. Sorry folks, there's no internet access at the hospital in Mooh's room.

My daughter has taught me how to get on this chat via Ottawa. I just came home to check messages before I go back to see him. He is still in the hospital. The nurses are looking after him very well and hopefully soon he will be home. Unfortunately "Mooh" has really had the stuffing taken out of him (no pun intended)and he will be out of commission for quite awhile.

I keep reading this thread in the hopes that Mooh-Man would simply come home and I could make fun of his sorry ass but this thing has turned into something a bit elongated for an appendix. Well, not the appendix itself although it could have been long or possibly missplaced. Hey, I ain't kidding here! We had one of our foster kids who had his appendix basically on the wrong side and was botched on the diagnosis and damn near died!!!

Anything like that with you Mooh or are you simply screwing around in the hospital because its good for laughs? I mean it really is at times ya' know?   Like when this homely-ass nurse asks "Are we ready for our bath?" Politely you say no but what you really mean is that you wouldn't bathe with her if your bodily ambience was so strong you'd knock a buzzard off a shitwagon.

You guys are the greatest!

The surgical problem (and why it took three emerg visits to diagnose) was basically that the appendix wasn't where it was supposed to be, but much higher and sort of entangled in some intestine, some of which was removed with the appendix. Far from being routine, so neither will the recovery be routine. The bloating due to gas has diminished slightly (they wouldn't even put another patient in my semi-private room until the last day), but the weakness and lethargy continue.

Times like these when I thank God for family and friends...

I'll answer this. I saw Mooh yesterday. He was just sittin' there playing his mandolin when I arrived. He's looking pretty wonderful, but it's a slow journey to feeling wonderful.

It's still day by day. This morning, as bright and warm as it is, is rough as I had a very uncomfortable night, but a nap later should help. In the meantime, I try to do some normal stuff like drying the dishes, dusting, correspondence, reading, greeting visitors, and as much playing as I can handle. Been staying mostly above the BS line on Mudcat, at least until I have better stamina. I guess I'm getting stronger every day, but it's slow progress. Digestion has improved along with my appetite so I don't miss the bit of intestine.

I'm ready to give up the fart crown to those more capable too, (you know who you are, LOL). I really do wish there was a camera rolling a week ago when Cosmo The Other Dog responded to a fart with an incredulous and frightened look of "what the fuck was that?!", and then left the room. Man's best friend has his limits.
